A spokesperson for the Sag Harbor Police Department told ET that police observed Timberlake on June 18 at approximately 12:37 a.m. driving a gray BMW 2025 southbound on Madison Street. Police said he failed to stop at a stop sign and that he failed to stay in his lane.
“A traffic stop was initiated by Police Officers from the Village of Sag Harbor Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating the vehicle while intoxicated,” the statement continued. “Mr. Timberlake was arrested, processed, and held overnight for arraignment this morning. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. He was released on his own recognizance.”
Timberlake’s attorney, defense attorney Edward Burke Jr., confirmed to ET the singer was charged with one count of DWI and cited for running a stop sign and failure to stay in lane. He is due back in court on July 26.
According to a police report obtained by ET, police said Timberlake was observed “traveling south on Madison Street, a public street in the village of Sag Harbor.” Police said Timberlake failed to stop at a traffic stop at Madison Street and Jermaine Avenue at approximately 12:17 p.m.
One minute later, the police said they observed Timberlake “failed to maintain the right of way on Madison Street with the intersection of Forrest Street, and again on Madison Street with the intersection of Susan Street.” At this time, the police said that they pulled over the singer and “after contact with (Timberlake) it was confirmed that (he) was operating the vehicle in a state of intoxication, because of his bloodshot eyes and glass, the smell of alcoholic beverages. out of his breath, he could not distinguish attention , he was slow to speak, he was unstable, and he performed well on all standardized field tests.”
At 12:37 a.m., police noted in a police report that Timberlake was taken into custody and he was taken to police headquarters where he was processed and booked. Police said “an alcohol impact report was read in full to (him) at (12:52 a.m.), to which (Timberlake) responded, ‘No, I didn’t do a chemical test.’ The alcohol impact report was read in full twice at (1:07 am), and (Timberlake) replied, ‘I deny it.’ The alcohol impact report was read the entire third time (at 1:22), and (Timberlake) replied, ‘I deny it.'”
Police also noted in the police report that Timberlake made the following confession, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”

A few hours after his arrest, Timberlake was seen walking out of jail. The “Cry Me a River” singer looked relaxed as she left the facility. He was wearing a long black shirt, a gray shirt, jeans and white Nikes. They also have black ball caps and shades.
At one point, it looked like Timberlake was smiling as he walked to a waiting vehicle.
