“While ruling party MLAs have been sanctioned â‚ą 15 crore each, opposition MLAs have not even been given â‚ą 5 crore which you sanctioned earlier,” Mr Singhar said in a letter to the Chief Minister.
The CM is advised to act fairly
“MLAs are public representatives. You are the Chief Minister of the State, you must follow them Rajdharma (duty of ruler). Justice should be done for everyone,” Mr. Singhar told reporters after the meeting.
Mr. Yadav asked the MLAs to prepare a vision document for their respective constituencies for the next five years and assured them that the government would help the ruling party and opposition MLAs equally.
“The MLAs, whether from Congress or BJP, should prepare a vision document for their constituency, detailing where they want to take their constituency in terms of development in five years. We will help all MLAs equally. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will double the economy Madhya Pradesh,” Mr. Yadav said.
The MLA also demanded stricter laws to deal with crimes against women, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes.
“Government has failed to control the incident. Criminals and miscreants are roaming in the open without fear. Enforcement by law and order administration is weak. Strict action and legislation is required to prevent harassment of SC, ST, girls and women,” read the letter. twice that sent to the CM.
Procurement price
The Congress MPs demanded that the BJP government increase the procurement prices of wheat and rice to â‚ą 3,100 and â‚ą 2,700 per quintal, respectively, as the ruling party had promised in its manifesto for last year’s Assembly polls.
He also insisted on increasing the soybean MSP to â‚ą6,000 per quintal.
“Soy, corn, and other crops were badly damaged by the rain. Farmers are suffering, and the government has not conducted a survey,” Mr. Singhar said in another letter, demanding a survey and compensation for farmers.
He also said that the delegation requested the government to ensure that farmers get fertilizers on time.
The Congress delegation also demanded an inquiry into the Jal Jeevan Mission, where tap water should be provided to every household.
Mr. Singhar claimed that it has been three months since the government assured an inquiry in the Assembly, but no inquiry has yet been launched.
Women are attacked
The Congress will also launch the “Beti Bachao” campaign which will run for two weeks on Gandhi Jayanti.
Accusing the BJP government of failing to prevent crimes against women, State Congress president Jitu Patwari said it would be a non-political campaign, and the victims’ families would also join party workers.
The campaign will include a candle and baton march, and a fast, ending with a nationwide shutdown on October 16, he said.
Citing NCRB data, Mr. Patwari said that more than 65,000 rapes have been reported in the State since 2004. The BJP has been in power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003, barring a 15-month period from December 2018 to March 2020 when Kamal Nath led the Congress government.
“The BJP government has failed to control crime against women during its 18 years in power which has seen more than 4.10 lakh women victims of criminal atrocities,” he said, speaking to reporters.
