Your airport attire should be a Comfortable co-ord, or maybe a tracksuit and hoodie.
Obviously, comfort is a top priority. But have you thought about what color you should wear? May we suggest red?
Apparently red is a powerful and stimulating color that can give you an edge when going through the security line and catch the attention of airline staff.
And, it can make the flight more enjoyable.
Thatâs according to the travel blog Airplane Tips, which shares advice on flying.
The recommendation to wear red comes from research that shows the color varies, which may mean special treatment on board.
The blog states that passengers wearing red during the flight can be more visible and memorable to the airline staff.
But that doesnât mean youâll stand out in a bad way (unless you act bad of course).
The blog reviews studies conducted by researchers at the University of Potsdam in Germany, together with collaborators in Munich and the US
The study found that women who wore red were perceived as more attractive than women who did not.
Itâs not just an attraction that color is good for, but it can mean the difference between winning and losing.
A study by Durham University found that sports teams who wore red were more likely to win than those who did not.
Red is also associated with dominance and power because it is easy to see.
So, Airplane Tips suggests, consider wearing red on your next flight to get more attention and your needs (no one wants to spend ages waiting for flight attendants to arrive).
He wrote: âAirline staff may not realize that passengers wearing red are more important or of higher status, resulting in a better customer service experience. So, if you want to receive the best treatment during your trip, consider incorporating red into your airport outfit.â
Despite the positive connotations, do not force color on yourself, the website adds.
âIt is important to note that red can have a positive effect on how others perceive you, so be sure to dress comfortably and appropriately for your trip.
âExperiment by incorporating red accents or accessories into your airport outfit to take advantage of the psychological benefits this vibrant color offers.â
Of course itâs not just wearing red that can make for a smoother flight. There are several tried and tested methods that can ensure a better ride.
How to get an upgrade on a plane
âAs far as travel tips go, the number one tip for people who want to upgrade (and be treated like royalty) on a plane is to be nice to the cabin crew,â Hannah Murphey, former flight attendant and director of Globe Fit Ltd. told Metro.co.uk.
âSmiling and making eye contact when boarding a plane goes a long way. Chat with the crew and ask them about their duties. I used to like it when passengers showed interest in me and were kind of opposed to demanding. I wanted to go out of my way to make sure that they have the best flight, I will move the seat if there is a better one available â and I will give extra drinks etc. purely because they show me kindness.
âWhen passengers are rude and expect it to have the opposite effect.â
So, a little kindness really goes a long way.
Choose the best seat
If you can choose where you sit on the plane â make sure you think about that decision.
âSit in front of the wing for a more comfortable flight and donât sit near the toilet or galley â it can be smelly and noisy,â suggests Daisy White, a former flight attendant.
Sit at the front of the plane for a meal option
If you can choose a seat, choose it at the front of the plane. Not only do you tend to feel less turbulence in the front compared to the tail of the plane, but there is also a sense of enjoyment when eating.
Kamila Jakubjakova, a flight attendant, told Metro.co.uk: âFood service usually starts at the front of the plane, so you have to eat first if youâre sitting in the first row of the plane. Sitting in the front row also means youâre more likely to choose the food you like when there are two options.â
