Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath attacked the Congress and NC for passing a resolution calling for the return of Article 370 and 35A.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday took a strong stand against the Congress and the National Conference, condemning calls to bring back Articles 370 and 35A.
The chief minister was addressing a function organized by All India Bhojpuri Samaj at Laxman Mela Ground here on the occasion of Chhath Puja.
Referring to a recent proposal in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to restore the article, he claimed the Congress and its allies aimed to drag the state and the valley back into the flames of terrorism.
“He refuses to see the development of Jammu and Kashmir and a promising future for its youth. The nation will not accept his divisive agendas. 140 crore Indians stand firm for the unity and integrity of the nation and are ready to respond decisively to any threat anyway,” he said.
‘Will Face the Fate of Article 370, 35A’
Adityanath further cautioned that if the Congress does not oppose this proposal, it may face the same fate as Articles 370 and 35A.
The chief minister also stressed the importance of Chhath Puja and emphasized the need to maintain national unity and integrity.
“When we are divided by caste and religion, others rule us,” Adityanath said.
“When we gather through the festival, some people living in India are destroying the essence of the country. No true Indian should tolerate this. But when we, as 140 crores strong, speak together, no force can challenge India,” he said.
Adityanath issued a strong message to the Congress and the National Conference, saying the action in Kashmir showed “dangerous neglect of national unity, which the nation will not tolerate”.
CM Yogi Calls Congress To Condemn J&K Resolution
On the occasion of Chhath Puja, the chief minister called on the Congress to oppose the resolution passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
The party’s fate could mirror the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A in Kashmir, he warned.
Addressing the gathering in Bhojpuri, Adityanath addressed a warm Chhath Mahaparva to all the devotees, especially acknowledging the devotion of mothers and sisters who undertook the challenging fast.
He recalled that on August 5, 2019, Prime Minister Modi decisively eliminated terrorism in the Kashmir Valley by abrogating Article 370 and 35A.
“This historic decision, approved by the Parliament, removed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir from the Constitution. The world then witnessed a new and powerful India, peaceful but determined to defend itself,” Adityanath said.
The chief minister reiterated India’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and integrity, saying the country was ready to make any sacrifice to protect its identity and unity.
He strongly criticized the Congress, highlighting how it introduced Article 370 into the Constitution despite the opposition of Dr BR Ambedkar, thereby setting Kashmir on the path to violence and terrorism.
‘Article 370 Will Not Return’: UP CM
Adityanath recalled the riots that followed, with widespread violence, targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits and brutal attacks on anyone who voiced support for India.
“When the Congress first labeled Article 370 as a ‘temporary provision’, only Prime Minister Modi took the bold step to repeal it. Today Kashmir is on the path of progress, with educational institutions, hospitals, industries and a new sense of security that allows its citizens to have been displaced back home,” he said.
The chief minister condemned the recent resolution tabled in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly by the Congress and the National Conference to restore Article 370 and 35A, describing it as a return to divisive and disruptive politics.
He warned the action of the Congress signaled its intention to save terrorism by undermining national unity.
Adityanath warned that Article 370, which is now abrogated, cannot and will not come back stating that it is the cause of mass violence, terrorism and massacre of countless people.
He described it as a “blood-stained thing”, which has destroyed the social harmony and beauty of Kashmir by fueling religious extremism and turning the region into a hub of terrorism.
