From toys, to new positions, experimenting with sex helps you figure out what you’re doing.
And now, the growing sex trend shows that we want to have double fun between the sheets.
Exclusive statistics are given for Metro from the audio porn site BLOOM shows that the search for double penetration on the site shot up to 453% last year.
The act of double penetration (often known as ‘DP’) is where the woman or the owner of the vulva is penetrated in two holes at the same time – vagina and mouth, mouth and anus, or vagina and anus.
It can be enjoyed as part of solo masturbation, with a partner, or with two other people. If three adults participate, two will be penetrating and one will receive, while if only two people will need penetrating partner using the penis and toys or fingers, or two toys.
While it can feel porn-y β and DP is often portrayed as a hardcore experience β there are plenty of ways to enjoy it in settings that might be more comfortable.
In fact, sexologist Gigi Engle recommends trying it yourself first.
Gigi told me Metro: ‘You just want to be careful with any type of anal penetration because of the risk of tearing or pain. You don’t want to do it with sadness because it can hurt.

When it comes to anal penetration and vaginal penetration, I would advise you to practice on yourself first, if you are the one who is penetrated.
‘You want to make sure you like the stimulation and not overdo it – then the more lube, the better.’
Gigi says that many people like to ‘feel full’.
He added: ‘Many people like to have multiple holes stimulated at once. The anal opening is full of nerve endings and can be exciting.
‘But many people who experience double penetration still need to stimulate the clitoris. Many women need that to orgasm and there’s nothing wrong with that.’
Gigi says the increased curiosity about DP may be due to its popularity in porn.
‘It’s very visually stimulating,’ she said. ‘It is sexually attractive for both receiving partners, and for the penetrating partner where the power play is concerned.’
‘There are also more women and vulva owners who are interested in demand in this way, while sex positivity makes it possible for people to experience it.’
However, as with any group sex experience, it’s important to trust your partner.
Gigi said: ‘If the dynamic involves two men penetrating a woman, the woman may feel uncomfortable or fearful about advocating for herself.
‘You want to make sure you’re with someone who makes you feel safe.’
If you feel ready and prepared to participate in DP, Gigi also has a couple of sex positions, when it comes to three partners involved.
The first position has one penetrating partner laying down on the sofa or bed, then the anally penetrated partner is placed on top of it. The second penetrating partner then kneels in front and penetrates the penis.
Another is to have the receiving partner in doggy style with one partner kneeling in front for oral penetration and the other partner kneeling behind for vaginal or anal penetration.
The last one is a simple cowgirl with a second penetrating partner standing behind her.
If you feel like ‘rising the anti on double penetration’ Gigi recommends throwing sex toys into the mix, including clitoral stimulators.
If you fly solo, Vac-U-Lock β Double Penetrator or Kata β Pulse Wave and Double Penetration Vibrator will work well.
