New Tina Dingle star reveals how long she was in Emmerdale as she caused chaos | Soap

New Emmerdale star Samantha Power has revealed her reaction to joining the cast of Tina Dingle.

Tina returns to the village in tonight’s episode for the funeral of her father Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell). Previously played by Jacqueline Pirie, Tina has been absent from the Dales for almost 30 years.

Before Dingles surprised him with his arrival, they were in the pub reminiscing about Zak and raised a glass to him. His body was then moved to the family’s land, where he asked to be buried.

As the family gathers at the grave, the peaceful moment is interrupted by Tina, who thinks she has the right to be a part of the Wishing Well as one of Zak’s children.

The Dingles are surprised by Tina’s return and as expected, there is a lot of shouting and fighting. As for the new star of the show Samantha Power, she is very happy to take over the role from Jacqueline.

‘I really remember the Jaqueline that Tina played. She was fantastic, I remember her character so vividly! So I’m very lucky to get the chance to pick up where he left off!

‘My wife says she’s never known me to be so nervous, my first scene on the first day was in the graveyard with ALL the Dingles! That is so true! Luckily everyone was so nice and welcoming! I have to give a special shout out to Lisa Riley, the best human being.

“When I met him at the screen test, I felt safe, he couldn’t be more giving and encouraging and encouraging and continues every day on set. I love working with him! I’m very nervous. It’s a great role to fill, so I want to do it justice.’

Describing filming as Tina, Samantha added:

‘There was one particular scene with Lisa where I was face down in a pool of mud. It was extremely memorable and I loved every second of it. There are also scenes that include impressive explosions.

‘He has no filter and he will do anything to make sure he gets his way including claiming to go home. He is not a person to be trusted! I like it. Tina is really good at manipulating people, especially Dingles so I don’t think it’s safe.’

Revealing more about this new Tina, Samantha explained: ‘She’s feisty, bolshy, selfish and she always has an agenda and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. It’s a joy to play a character so far from who I am! I felt so at home in Emmerdale and loved playing her!’.

‘On my first day it was Zak’s funeral, not only did they say goodbye to Zak but also to the legendary Steve Halliwell and to be on location in the village I felt very honored to be a part of it.’

‘Definitely!’, he added, when asked about the possibility of returning to the show.

‘Emmerdale is an amazing place to work and Tina is just fantastic to play so I’d love the opportunity to come back and cause more mischief.’
