Naomi Campbell apparently throwing shade on it Vogue editor Anna Wintour while accepting the award in New York City.
The iconic supermodel, 54, accepted the Fashion Icon Award at Harlem’s Fashion Row Fashion Show & Style Awards on Tuesday, September 3. Speaking to the crowd as a presenter, Wintour, 74, referred to Campbell by saying, “I’m a very punctual person, and I have the honor to dedicate tonight to people who are often late.”
Wintour then left the show and Samira Nasreditor of Harper’s Bazaarpresented the award to Campbell on Wintour’s behalf.
“I want to say this. All of them are expected to be implemented. It’s not my choice to have another woman,” Campbell said on stage per social media recording, which showed Wintour. He then gestured to Nasr, adding, “I’d rather have this.”
The woman’s remarks were later circulated online and picked up by TMZwhich reported on Wednesday, September 4, that Campbell did not arrive late to the show but appeared “at the time he was instructed by the show’s producers.”
According to the outlet, Wintour pushed her presentation to an earlier time slot so she could attend the US Open in Queens. The legendary magazine editor appeared in the stands at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday.
The apparent mix of schedules, however, did not stop Wintour and Campbell from praising each other.
USA Today quoted Wintour as telling the Style Awards audience that Campbell was “bold, bright and all, beyond doubt.”
He also said that “Naomi is one of the most fearless people I know, a quality that was evident at the beginning of her career when she began to speak the truth about inequality and injustice. And this was at a time when it was not common to do so.
Wintour continued, “Naomi’s courage has benefited the entire fashion industry. Although, I can tell you that being on the receiving end of fear can – oh what can I say? It’s quite fun? But it’s her honesty that makes her extraordinary, so inspiration and inspiration for designers.
Speaking later that night, Campbell praised Wintour for championing her early modeling career.
“We still have to thank Anna Wintour, because she took the time to come here and give the award even though I’m not here,” Campbell said. “So thank you, Anna Wintour, for your support in my career since 1987, meeting a black girl from South London in British Vogue office and took a chance on giving me a shot. So I am thankful for his influence and his constant support to push fashion as well.

Wintour’s love of tennis is well known.
Earlier this year, tennis pro Roger Federer said exclusively for us about his two-decade friendship with him.
“He invited me to a dinner party that he always hosts for all his friends and partners and stuff,” said Federer, 43. “I know he’s a big tennis fan. Oh my God, he likes my game. Then he got along with Mirka, my wife, that’s great.”
He told me us he even plays hooky from work to keep up with his tennis matches.
“We saw each other from time to time and he started skipping some fashion shows to come watch my game at the US Open,” he said, adding, “I can rely on him for some amazing advice and he’s always there for me. more as friends.”
Federer retires from the sport in 2022. At the US Open competition Tuesday, America Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz advance to the semifinals.
For Campbell, the runway icon is enjoying life as a new parent now. He confirmed in a recent interview with The Sunday Times that his two sons welcome through surrogate. “I do,” he told the outlet when asked if he helped grow his family.
Although he did not reveal the names of his daughter and son, who were welcomed in 2021 and 2023, Campbell gushed about the two children. “My babies are everything to me. This makes me afraid of the future,” he said. “I want a better world for my children. They are 110 percent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school.
