Meghan Markle has a new company, and her fans will be able to join her. But what is it?
This spring, Meghan Markle’s lifestyle soft launch coincidentally coincided with Kate Middleton’s surprise appearance at Trooping The Colour.
The Duchess of Sussex has no control over this. However, they are clearly very excited to launch their new product.
Introducing American Riviera Orchard. (Listen, King Charles!)
American Riviera Orchard is Meghan Markle’s new company
Meghan Markle unceremoniously activated the brand’s Instagram page on March 15. At the time, she shared nothing about the project – leaving fans to pour through her trademark application for clues.
American Riviera Orchard will, according to the document, sell home decor and household items such as kitchen items. That means decanters, napkin rings, utensils, table linens, and complete cookbooks.
Then there are also edibles, such as jams, marmalades, vegetable-based spreads, nut-based spreads, nut butters, and fruit butters.
As you may have noticed, Meghan Markle’s new company Instagram page now features one of those mandatory looking composite picture boxes. Many companies use these designs when they launch their company, especially before they are ready to go live with a real product.
However, it seems that American Riviera Orchard takes its name from Meghan and Harry’s home in Santa Barbara. The area surrounding the coastal city is known as the American Riviera.
For the “Orchard” section, this is an illustrative name that also indicates the amount of fruit in the product. Especially when it comes to jams, jellies, and preserves.
Meghan has been sharing her new company’s products with friends
Beginning in early April, Meghan’s friends — from athletes to fashion designers and more — began sharing American Riviera Orchard gift baskets on Instagram Stories.
In particular, Polo star Nacho Figueras – a close friend of Meghan and Harry – shared a photo of the example on June 14.
This happened hours before Kate Middleton’s royal appearance at Trooping The Colour, the goofily-named British royal birthday celebration. When clear not Meghan.
In particular, Figueras’ Instagram post showed raspberry jam (obviously not the only product) along with some bone-shaped dog treats.
It’s unclear if American Riviera Orchard will include dog grooming as part of its offerings at launch. This can definitely be a special gift for a friend.
But the trademark application mentions dog treats among other pet supplies. So it looks like this product line is part of that plan.
Is Meghan Markle hoping for support from King Charles?
According to a report by OK! magazineMeghan Markle is hoping that her father-in-law will show his support for her new company.
“Meghan is looking for support wherever she can get it,” an inside source said. “Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were at the top of her list, but she took it even higher and was happy to ask King Charles for approval.”
The insider added, “Despite all the drama, Meghan doesn’t understand why she can’t offer him support and encouragement.
There is no evidence that Meghan has sought a royal endorsement for her new company – or that she has asked Harry to get in touch. But if they do, maybe we’ll see American Riviera Orchard gift shop among Brits in the future.
