Just wanted to say this: Kody Brown is all together.
We are nearing the midway point of season 19 of Sister Wives, and the vibe is… slow
That’s the problem with shows like this, which are filmed and then not aired until literally years later.
Fans already know where Kody and Co. He knows where he lives, he knows who he loves and he knows who he hasn’t spoken to in a LOOONG TIME.
But in episode 5, we’ll see Kody’s last day married to his first wife and his most recent ex-husband.
And despite insisting on wanting to end it, he also refuses to take responsibility for the failure of his marriage.
Pick Up from last Sunday…
In the last episode of Sister Wifewe left Robyn crying her eyes out on Christmas Eve, mourning the fact that this would be her first holiday as Kody’s only wife.
He pulled himself together, but for the kids, and to be honest, he was the only one who didn’t like the arrangement.
Christine was in her element on Christmas morning, surrounded by her children at Mykelti’s house. Janelle spent the holidays in North Carolina, with her daughter Maddie and family. And Meri kicks chocolate with friends on Christmas day.
Janelle said, “This is the new normal, and it’s okay.”
Clearly, everyone is moving forward, although some are happier than others.
In December 2022, when this episode takes place, Christine is starting to date her current husband, David Wooley.
Ok there was a mixed reaction from the family about this.
Christine’s Children Interrogate Him through David
Since all the kids were on vacation, Christine took the opportunity to talk to them all about her new boyfriend.
Everyone seems generally on board; Mykelti let him hold the baby when he found it!
But realize it’s moving pretty fast, has said the “L” word after only two dates!
But Christine admits, both in her confessions and to her children’s face, that the opinion of the matter, but will not stop her from taking David seriously.
We know how it works…
As for Kody’s other exes, while Janelle is open to meeting people “organically”, she is not ready to dive into dating apps. For Envy?
“The idea of dating is really weird,” he said. “Then add the fact that I’ve been in a plural family for 30 years. They just think I’m curious because it’s been so long.
But despite neither dating, Meir and Janelle are making moves — literally and figuratively.
For Janelle, that means continuing the conversation with Maddie and her husband Caleb about buying a property together. At this point, all he needed was Kody to buy him out of Coyote Pass, and he was set.
As for Meri, since she doesn’t live in Flagstaff, she’s looking for something similar to Kody.
But he had to face her to do it.
Meri and Kody Face-Off
In a pointless confrontation, Meri and Kody meet at their home on their Flagstaff property for the first time since their split.
Kody said it was to clear the air, but it actually felt more like Kody was hoping Meri would clear it herself.
See, in one breath, he accuses Meri of “gaslighting” people for years, insisting that he would say one thing about the relationship, but the “vibration” is completely different.
When he responds that he is the one who loves her, he misunderstands Meri.
“Don’t blame me for not loving you. I did my job. Blame yourself if I don’t love you. If I love a woman, that’s wrong.”
“I don’t blame,” replied Meri. “All I did was admit that he told me he wasn’t interested in working on a relationship.”
The confrontation is stiff and forced, with Meri trying to keep it civil, while Kody tries to win back the dignity he thinks he lost. They call it the “accountability conversation,” but the real question is, who needs it.
Clearly, answered Kody.
“You’re trying to make me possessive,” Kody tells Meri, implying that possessiveness is the reason they broke up.
However, Meri is more than willing to play a role in the end of the marriage. He also knew that Kody refused to do the same.
“I don’t think she likes to see him fail, but if you don’t want to fail, you should probably marry someone one or two or three times.”
Touch, Meri!
Then came the elephant in the room: Robyn. After all, he was the only person in the family who didn’t understand his condition. But Meri remained firm.
“There’s no moving forward together,” he said, meaning they’ll no longer go on vacations or be part of a family.
In the end, Kody seemed reluctant – a little.
I don’t know why I’m still holding back a little bit because I know very well that I don’t want to be in this relationship, and I know that I don’t want to be in a relationship with Janelle.
And I know that Christine did me with the courage to leave.
“I feel very peaceful about our situation. No,” Meri admitted.
