A friend of Jay Slater has described the disappearance of the British teenager in Tenerife as “suspicious and strange” when he recalled the last phone call on the morning he disappeared.
The 19-year-old was last heard from at 8.15am on Monday morning when he called his friend Lucy Mae to tell her he got lost on his way back to his accommodation.
He had left to stay with people he had met at the NRG music festival earlier in the day. The teenager missed the bus, which meant he had to walk for 11 hours.
Talk to Sunhe said to his friend “not stupid” and added: “Something is strange. It is suspicious. In two days you told me that someone did not see him.
“There is a restaurant 10 minutes away that you will see or pass by. It feels suspicious and strange.”
Jay was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with shorts and trousers, with his phone showing his last location as the Rural de Teno park, an area popular with hikers.

Jay Slater’s last listed location was in the Rural de Teno national park, a remote mountainous area in northwest Tenerife popular with hikers.
After attending the NRG festival at the Papagayo beach club, he went to another part of the island with new friends he met over the weekend.
Shortly after 8am, he contacted his friend Lucy and told her the phone was going to die, and he tried to get back to his accommodation, although it was around 10 hours.
The last location of the call was registered at 8.50am in a rural natural park, with the search focused on the hamlet of Masca, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte.

Coronation Street stars join forces to search for missing Briton
A Coronation Street star has joined the call for help to find apprentice bricklayer Jay Slater, who has been missing in Tenerife since Monday morning.
Vicky Entwistle, who plays Janice Battersby in the ITV soap, said she was “hoping to God they find her” as she told other social media users she knew the authorities were “pulling out all the stops”.
He also revealed that Jay was his godmother’s grandson, and showed him a poster describing his final resting place.

The last Snapchat post taken hours before teenager Jay Slater disappeared showed him smiling and laughing with friends.
The 19-year-old had attended the final day of the three-day NRG festival at Tenerife’s Papagayo beach club, before leaving the car with new friends to have a few drinks at his accommodation.
However, shortly after 8 a.m. Monday morning, he called his friend Lucy to tell her he was trying to get back but was lost, needed water and only had one percent of his phone battery.

His mother’s husband said that Jay was ‘street’ but he could be wrong
Speaking outside their home in Oswaldtwistle, Andy Watson’s mother’s partner said Sun: “Wait really. It feels like a blur right now.
“Jay is the way and he’s not a mug but if it’s dark and he’s not touching his phone, he might make a mistake and be more lost than he is.”
Andy said that Jay had gone missing after going to the New Generation Rave (NRG) festival with his friend Lucy and other friends.
He said: “Lucy contacted Debbie to say she had returned with two British boys she met at a party to the venue for a few beers.
“Apparently, where he was staying was an eight hour walk from Jay’s place.”

A British teenager who is still missing in Tenerife has “cut his leg on a cactus” and has no idea where he is, a friend has said.
Lucy Law said that 19-year-old Jay Slater, who has been missing since Monday, called her “I don’t know where he is”, that he “needs a drink” and “cut his leg on a cactus.”.
He had no food and water, he added, and was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. “It’s very warm during the day and very cold at night,” Ms Law told Sky News.

His mother, Debbie Duncan, flew to Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands on Tuesday morning to look for him.
Ms Duncan said she feared her son, who is an apprentice bricklayer, had been “taken against his will”.
He told the PA news agency: “It’s just traumatic and it doesn’t feel real. It’s just terrible, it’s horrible.
“I think he’s been offended by what he said, but it’s in the hands of the police.”
He added that the police leading the search had been “excellent”.
