Vice President Kamala Harris denied this weekend that former President Donald Trump was “hiding” from the American people and urged her to release updated records about her health after she did so on Saturday.
“Donald Trump refuses to release his medical records, and he refuses to meet for a second debate,” Harris said on Sunday. “Why would his staff want him to hide? Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America?”
On Saturday, Harris’ doctor released a two-page “Statement of Health Care,” which confirmed that “in summary,” Harris “remains healthy.” A statement from Harris’ doctor also indicated that he had his most recent annual physical exam in April of this year. Trump released his own health records during the 2016 campaign, and after taking the White House, he continued the trend. In August, with the 2024 election fast approaching, Trump told CBS News that he would release his updated medical records to the public. However, they haven’t done so, with about three weeks to go until Election Day.

“He’s not going to release his medical records,” Harris confirmed Monday morning during an interview with podcast host Roland Martin. He also slammed Trump for refusing a second debate and asked why Trump’s “staff” wouldn’t allow him to do an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes,” especially when it has become a tradition for the two presidential candidates to sit down and share.
“Maybe it’s because they think they’re unprepared and inappropriate and unstable and shouldn’t have that level of transparency for the American people,” Harris said.
Trump’s campaign denied Harris’ allegations, pointing out the former president had released voluntary updates on his health. He also noted that he shared a recording of the July screening conducted by Dr. Ronny Jackson, former White House physician turned GOP congressman, after second assassination attempt on his life.

“Everyone has concluded (Trump) is healthy and fit to be Commander-in-Chief,” said Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung. “He maintains a busy and active campaign schedule unlike any other in political history.” Meanwhile, Cheung slammed Harris as “unable to keep up with the demands of the campaign,” saying that compared to Trump his schedule is “lighter because, it is said, he doesn’t have the stamina of President Trump.”
On Sunday, during a rally in Arizona, Trump himself discussed his health and denied that critics are looking for excuses to say that he is not cognitively or physically fit to be president.
“If I mispronounce the words a little bit… I talk for hours, usually without a teleprompter… one mispronounces a word: ‘He’s cognitively impaired. He’s old. He mispronounces words like gang names.'”
“But they’re happy, you know, because Biden is clearly cognitively corrected,” Trump added at the rally. “(Harris) needs to report him because this is endangering our country.”
Before President Biden dropped out of the presidential race in July, a similar request for medical records was made. The medical records never came, but details from the president’s exam, which determined he showed signs of Parkinson’s Disease, finally surfaced days before Biden ended his presidency.

During his presidency, Biden’s personal physician released at least three separate reports that updated the health of the American public. Trump, too, produced at least three different health records during his presidency.
On Sunday morning’s episode of NBC’s “Meet The Press,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R–La., was pressed by host Kristen Welker about whether he thinks seeing detailed information about Trump’s health, such as cholesterol levels, is important.

“Christians, Americans don’t care about Donald Trump’s cholesterol level. They care about the cost of living and the fact that they can’t afford groceries because the policies of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have caused that situation. It’s irrelevant,” Johnson replied. “Let’s talk about the things that the American people like. That’s why Donald Trump is rising in the polls because he does it on stage, in interviews, non-stop for an hour. And Kamala Harris does nothing.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment but did not receive a response by press time.
