GameCentral’s daily mail page denied that the PlayStation 4 was ever going away, as one reader wondered if there would be a new Superman game.

Christmas present
It has not occurred to me that portable Xbox can be something that comes out this gen, maybe soon. I think it’s good that it’s coming out this year, because obviously not many people are interested in the Xbox Series X/S. I’m pretty sure that won’t happen, as they’ve already announced the all-digital Xbox Series X and it looks like it’s new hardware for Christmas.
It’s definitely a good idea for the next gen though, I imagine the only concern is that more macho Xbox owners are not going to want a little portable. But then there are also rumors about a home version and it’s easy to imagine because Microsoft likes different models at the same time.
I would definitely love to return from the blade though. I don’t know why he got rid of it, because he’s so typical. More importantly, the Xbox dashboard has been ugly ever since.

Congratulations Miquella
Sidestepping the argument over the difficulty for a moment, I will say that Shadow Of Erdtree is one fine piece of DLC. It’s huge, with lots of new features, but it also does a great job to make you remember what it was like to play the original game for the first time – which loosens your gaze after a few New Game + runs.
Even some of the little optional things are great. Fog Rift Catacombs is one of the best mini-dungeons in the entire game and has many optional bosses (no spoilers) just like the main ones.
Yes it’s hard, and the story is very difficult to follow, but I’m not sure what else you expect. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the main game.

Losing hope
I’m still surprised that after all these years, we haven’t remade Soul Reaver or even remastered it. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought the games were pretty massive back in the day. At least in my part, it’s being discussed as the PlayStation equivalent of Zelda, especially the latter. It’s not very similar, but I think it’s because they are both action adventurers puzzlers that have more gongs than other similar games.
I’m starting to worry that it’s too old to bother with now, but if they’re planning anything, it’s the 25th anniversary of the first game this year (on August 16th, to be exact). If I were them, I would immediately go ahead and make the sequel, but I have a bad feeling they won’t bother.

For the love of the game
Loved the preview of Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess, which I admit I forgot they even announced. I give a lot of kudos to Capcom for putting something out there, that they obviously know won’t sell. If only more publishers made games just for the art, instead of how many microtransactions you could be stuck with.
I guess it’s a big moral boost for the developers, they want to stay very motivated, instead of just having people work on the endless Resident Evil sequels, year after year. It seems like good business to me but I’m sure the EAs and Activisions of this world will only see it as a sign of weakness and a waste of money.

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but I really can’t see the Elden Ring TV show working. It will be expensive to make the game – at least as expensive as Lord of the Rings shows on Amazon, but fewer people will hear about it. Even fewer people will understand the basics of the plot, which is one of the reasons why companies like to use the same franchises over and over again.
Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing it work, but you need an entire crew working at the absolute top of their game to get there and I’m not even sure George RR Martin is in it. again, what about other people.
I want to see it though, just to know if they show the protagonist fighting and losing to bosses several times, before giving in and cheesing with some overpowered co-operator. You know, to make it as original as possible.

cinematic world
I know GC is a huge DC Comics fan, so I’m sure he’s seen the leaked publicity photos from the new Superman movie, which, in my opinion, looks pretty cool. I love the cape and I’m sure GC, like me, agrees that he should wear red shorts outside his outfit.
Which brings me to the Inbox question: will we see a new Superman game? There are rumors of Rocksteady wanting to do one for years, but the last one is Superman Returns in 2006. When James Gunn first announced taking over he talked about the game as well, but I don’t think he mentioned any names.
There is a Wonder Woman game but that was announced before Gunn started and I don’t think there are any plans for a new movie. Would love this to be a reason to get a regular game out for all the big, and some small, characters but the lack of words is a bit worrying.
Jawknuckle
GC: We are really proponents of undies outside. We have a few minor nitpicks about the outfits but overall, we’re very encouraged so far, and we’re not big James Gunn fans.
Punctual
I find it hard to agree with the idea that the current generation of consoles is coming too late. After all, both have sold millions of units and I have never regretted buying them.
Older devices are showing their age with slow hard disks that are essentially out of date at launch and low memory which means the gap in performance between consoles and PCs is widening. Cyberpunk 2077 is a clear example, where this is already a problem, but smaller games like Planet Coaster should have a park size limit small enough to run in last gen. Let’s face it, loading times last gen were a joke, meaning there is nothing fast about fast travel in the game.
But if I think for a moment that the graphics jump has been too fast, causing an increase in dev costs, then should the standard for this gen be the Xbox Series S? A lower jump in graphics will decrease the increase in dev costs while fixing the last gens biggest problem. The device could cost £100 less.
Personally, I am very happy with the released device.

Infinite generations
RE: Sony stuck with the PlayStation 4 and did not release the PlayStation 5. Sony has stuck with the PlayStation 4. We’re just now in the embers of the industry-wide full cross-gen period. The main main party releases are still released on PlayStation 4, recently with God Of War Ragnarök. Here are Jim Ryan’s words from a Washington Post interview a few months before the PlayStation 5 was released:
‘The PS4 community will continue to be incredibly important to us for three or four years,’ and while ‘many will transition to PS5 (…) tens of millions will still be involved with PS4.’
This cross-gen attitude has gotten a lot of backlash. The PlayStation 5 opens up about believing in a generation, as a riposte to the non-exclusive Xbox approach of the Xbox Series X / S during the first two years of which it was widely praised.
But for those who missed Sony’s memo about cross-gen support see that statement now as a lie. The chorus saying there’s no need to get a PlayStation 5 or for Sony to stop making cross-gen games that don’t use new hardware is getting louder. Xbox Series S more powerful than PlayStation 4 with SSD has been developed by devs and customers to hold games.
Even as a measure to control the budget that remains with the PlayStation 4 is flawed because it has been very high on the PlayStation 4 about $ 220 million for The Last Of Us Part 2, as seen from the FTC leak during the Microsoft case.
But games are expensive as expected and I think the industry can learn from Nintendo not to release less powerful hardware but to have more balanced budgeted games. Some less Spider-Men and some more Astro Bots. I personally would be more excited by the latter.

I’m quite like the prospect of the TV show Elden Ring, as long as they keep the beautiful, rotten feeling of all things Saka and have characters laugh like weirdos say. Of course we have to read the IMDb entry to understand the plot.

What worries me about the nine Assassin’s Creed games is when will they come out? It won’t be one year, so what is it? Two? three? Too much of an okay thing is too much.
