CNBC’s Silvia Amaro and Sean Peche of Ranmore Fund Management
After the US Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a bumper 50 basis points, investors are still wondering whether growth or value stocks are the best bets.
In CNBC’s upcoming Pro Talk, Silvia Amaro will ask Value investor Sean Peche where he sees opportunities in the current market.

Peche is a portfolio manager at UK-based Ranmore Fund Management and manages the $329 million Ranmore Global Equity Fund. Launched in 2008, the fund seeks to identify stocks that have gone wrong – or that have sold for less than their fundamental value.
“An important part of our process is to avoid overvalued businesses. Investors often get caught up in the excitement of fast-growing businesses. Over time, they begin to justify paying any price for this growth,” he said. “It’s something we’re really excited about, even if it’s not going to bring any short-term benefits.”
Peche will discuss the sectors and geographies investors should be watching today, along with his favorite stocks. They will also be asked whether value investing is at a turning point, given central bank interest rate cuts around the world.
Ranmore Global Equity Fund’s main sectors include consumer discretionary (24%), financials (22%), and industrials (10%). Only 3% of the funds in technology, and 6% in communication. Its largest holdings are in French supermarket chains Carrefourpetroleum company Petrobrasthe Chinese tech giant Alibaba and Baiduand Dutch bank ABN Amro.
As of August 31, the Ranmore Global Equity Fund had returned 21.6% over the past year, underperforming the benchmark MSCI World Index of 24.4%. Since inception, the fund has gained 10.9% on an annualized basis, slightly more than the 10.6% posted by the MSCI benchmark.
Peche set up Ranmore Fund Management in 2008, before which he worked as a US/European hedge fund co-manager at London-based Decillion Fund Management, and as an equity analyst at Orbis Investment Advisory.
