Fashion and lifestyle influencers Bridget Bah revealed he had cancer in an emotional Instagram video posted on Sunday, September 22.
“I found out I had breast cancer,” said Bahl, 41, recounting the events that led to the heartbreaking diagnosis. She is in the middle of her sixth IVF retrieval with her husband Michael Chiodo when he felt a lump in his chest.
“I was probably two or three days away from the shot, and I had routine blood work, a sonogram with the doctor, and I said I felt something in my chest,” Bahl said in the video, telling her doctor to go in for imaging as soon as possible. .
“They got me, like, a day or two, and I’m sure it’s fine, just a cyst and from hormones,” she continued, adding that she “really, doesn’t feel. worried” about the mass. “I feel good .I feel good.
After the mammogram and sonogram, the specialist told Bahl she didn’t like what she saw in the images. Bahl was immediately biopsied and the doctor called the next day to give the diagnosis.
“Unfortunately, (they) confirmed that I have breast cancer and it has spread to the lymph nodes,” said Bahl, calling the past few weeks “a nightmare” as she attended “a lot of appointments” and tried “to process and make a plan.” “
“We really want to have a baby,” a tearful Bahl said of her and husband Chiodo, a plastic surgeon, at the top of the video. The current retrieval will be the last attempt to secure more embryos. “We didn’t start at the best time,” he said. “There’s not enough time to wait for another round, so I’m just asking for prayers.”
Bahl also shared with his 1.4 million followers that he will undergo chemotherapy, surgery and possibly radiation to treat his type of cancer, which he says is “very responsive to targeted treatment, which gives us a lot of hope.”
“I knew I was going to be OK, and I also knew there was a scary road ahead,” she continued. “And I don’t want to do it, but I believe through God’s grace I can do it.”
Many commenters showed their love and support for Bahl, along with fellow fashion influencers Aimee’s song wrote, “Sweet Bridget, I send you love and strength. You will get through this” and Olivia Culpo shows, “Praying for you Bridget.”
Bahl ends the video by urging other women to get regular checkups and be vigilant about preventative care.
“This platform is like 90 percent of women, and it’s like a huge opportunity not to show it. You have to do your own examination, and if you feel something, you have to say something, and you have to get it checked out. Don’t wait… If you don’t wait, you will have a better chance to heal and get and fight,” he said.
Bahl concluded, “I’m so grateful to you. I’m so blessed by this community. I can’t encourage you enough to please, please do your own testing, and I hope this helps others.
