Farooq Abdullah said it must be known that several agencies have been assigned to undermine the Omar Abdullah-led J&K government.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday called for an independent investigation into the recent spurt of terror activities in the erstwhile state to find out if there was a conspiracy to undermine the newly elected government.
He further fueled the controversy by suggesting that terrorists should be arrested and not killed and interrogated to find the masterminds behind the attacks.
“It should be investigated. How has the government come about and this has happened? I doubt what those who are trying to destroy the government are doing…If they (terrorists) are caught, then we will know who did this. He should not be killed, he should be arrested and asked who is behind it…We should check if any agency is trying to destroy Omar Abdullah,” ANI quoted Farooq as saying.

He also said that it should be known that some agencies have been deployed to undermine the Omar Abdullah-led J&K government.
The NC President also requested that the terrorists found in Khanyar should be captured alive and not killed to find out who is trying to destabilize the elected government.
When asked whether Pakistan should be blamed for every terrorist attack in J&K, including the recent Budgam terror attack, Farooq said, “There is no question about it, I would say there is an investigation into it.
Sharad Pawar Defends Farooq
Meanwhile, NCP-SCP leader Sharad Pawar defended Farooq Abdullah’s statement saying that the central government should take his statement seriously.
“Farooq Abdullah is the tallest personality of Jammu and Kashmir…He spent his life serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I have no doubts about his integrity and honesty. If the leader makes a statement, then the central government, especially the Ministry of Home Affairs, should seriously and trying to work out how the situation can be resolved,” Pawar said.
BJP questions Farooq Abdullah
However, the BJP accused Abdullah of “blaming the Indian Army, an Indian agency to shirk its responsibilities”.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “It is unfortunate that on such a sensitive issue, instead of giving priority to the country, some people give priority to politics, family and vote bank. It is not appropriate for Farooq Abdullah to blame the Indian Army, an Indian institution for shirking its responsibilities or save sponsors of terrorism”.

Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina said that the army, police and security forces should give their full support.
“Farooq Abdullah knows that this terrorism is coming from Pakistan… This is a well-known fact. What should be investigated about this? They know that terrorist attacks are happening in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan and terrorist organizations are involved in this… We should all support the army, police and security forces…” Raina said.
Rise of Terror Attacks in J&K

The National Conference has won a decisive victory in the recently held assembly elections.
