The body of the daughter of a Hollywood actor has been sitting in the morgue for weeks as her parents desperately try to prove that the young woman’s death was not fatal.
Authorities deny Daelena Mackay, whose father Dwayne Adway has several television roles in hits like “CSI,” “NYPD Blue,” “ER” and “The Steve Harvey Show,” committed suicide after she was reportedly found on May 23, hanged by scarf in her bathroom.
The 911 caller claiming Daelena’s boyfriend said he tried to revive her after finding her body, but she couldn’t be saved.
An autopsy was not performed, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner told the Daily Mail, because an external examination and the “circumstances” of Daelena’s death were made unnecessary.
Adway said he is suspicious about the cause of his daughter’s death.
“I’m trying to put pressure on the LAPD,” Adway told The Post on Friday. “They’re dying to stay where they are and not see more of the case. It seems to be happening a lot in LA with black and brown girls dying and being written off as dead.
His mother also insisted that Mackay, 20, had suspicious injuries, and decried the lack of autopsy in the case.
“‘His body tells a different story than what the police told us, with bruises and bleeding from two stab wounds about an inch from the front of his body straight to his back and other bleeding,’ Elaine Mackay told the Daily. letter.
“All these findings I discovered because I had no choice but to examine the body myself, the county coroner did not come out of his report. Only toxicology was done by the county coroner, there was no autopsy.
Adway disagreed, saying Saturday that an autopsy would not shed more light on Daelena’s manner of death.
Mackay lived in the El Centro Hollywood building while studying at Los Angeles City College, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.
Elaine Mackay told the outlet that the person who called the police was not the same boyfriend in Texas with whom Daelena had a long off-and-on relationship.
“My daughter is not suicidal, she saw a therapist the day before and (she) said that there are zero clinical indications of depression or suicide, that my daughter is full of life, very excited about life,” said Elaine Mackay. “She is so excited about winning a poetry contest and her upcoming 21st birthday, she is actively pursuing modeling and acting following her parents’ footsteps.”
Adway said he was “saddened and saddened by the loss of my intelligent and talented daughter.”
“I’m looking for a full investigation by the LAPD in hopes of finding the truth and justice,” he told the NBC affiliate in LA.
The mother claims her ex refused to fund a private autopsy for her daughter, whose body has been sitting in the morgue.
“The autopsy was very important in the case and I don’t understand why the father chose to leave the autopsy when he knew how important it was,” he said. “All because I don’t have ‘my half’ while he has money, more than enough to pay in full. Why did he do this to our daughter who has been sitting in the morgue since June 18?'”
But Adway told The Post that he checked with two private forensic pathologists who told him that because there was no question that Daelena was strangled, the autopsy results did not differ from the medical examiner’s.
“The problem is not that he was strangled, but the way he was strangled is the question,” Adway said. “The pathologists will not be able to determine for sure. It is up to the LAPD and my mother and I have met with them about investigating this case further.
Adway said she has met with people who called 911 about their daughter and said they were concerned about her behavior. He declined to name the man.
The medical examiner could not immediately be reached for comment.
