Derby County’s Kira Rai says he is determined to pave the way for the next generation as he prepares to make an appearance for the club.
Rai, who scored at Sporting Khalsa to secure Derby County’s first goal of the 2024/25 season, has the longest appearance for a single English South Asian club active in the top three divisions of English women’s football.
The Sikh-Punjabi striker is a product of Derby County’s academy and his 100th game came at home to Loughborough Lightning in the League Cup on Wednesday night.

“I’ve been here all my life, and I have friends for life, and I’m very happy that my experience in football has been good.

Rai, who wears the number 15, was delighted at the end of last season by helping Derby win their first national trophy in 15 seasons, having first joined the club as an U10 player.
