Brian Craig have returned to General Hospital almost eight years after the death of his character.
Craig, 32, is set to reprise his role as Morgan Corinthos on the long-running soap as a guest star for one episode this summer, sources confirmed to Us Weekly on Monday, June 24.
Fans of General Hospital they were quick to share their excitement about Craig’s return to the small screen, with one X user writing, “Welcome Home Bryan!! I just read the news!! So excited!” while another wrote, “I look forward to going back, but it’s better to see him!”
Despite Craig’s return, some fans are disappointed about how much time he will spend on the series.
“Come on @GeneralHospital just one episode!!! Get him back full time!! Fans miss Morgan so much!” wrote one social media user. Another added, “So @valentinifrank hyped up a former cast member to be back just for one episode? What do they do at GH? It’s not the kind of thing you’re going to get and keep watchingβ¦β
Craig previously teased his return earlier this month after General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentine told ABC7 at the 51st Daytime Emmy Awards that “former cast members are back” and that “audiences are going to go crazy for him.”
“Who could it be…” Craig wrote via X at the time.
Craig first joined the cast of General Hospital in 2013 as the son of mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright). The nearly four-year run ended in 2016 after his character was presumed dead in a car bomb.
He briefly returned to the series in 2018 when he appeared in love with Ava Jerome’s (Maura Kulon) dream.
During his walk GHCraig was nominated for four Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series, taking home the award in 2016 and 2017.
When talking to Soap opera Soap opera In 2016, the actor opened up about his decision to leave General Hospitalexplaining that he thought it best to pursue other career opportunities at the time.
“From the beginning, you know your contract is up, and I think we start to seriously talk about it when the fourth-year option comes up,” Craig told the outlet. βThere were some big projects I did while I was there GHand my manager and I just made the decision that it was time to go back there.
How he knew about the character being removed, Craig explained, “Frank pulled me on the set and told me. This is one of those storylines that will go down to all the characters that are close to (Morgan) and give me great material, so I understand. I like that.β
