Making inappropriate comments about their children seems to run in Donald Trump’s family.
The former president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr sparked outrage when he called his 17-year-old daughter Kai ‘sexy’ earlier this week.
He can be heard making the comments in a clip of him sitting in a makeup chair as he prepares for the Republican National Convention.
Kai spoke at the convention where he was confirmed as the party’s candidate for this year’s presidential election.
In the clip, posted to Trump Jr’s own TikTok account, the 46-year-old said: ‘Kai, do you think makeup makes me as sexy as you?’
The young daughter told me: ‘I think you look very beautiful.’
Trump Jr replied: ‘Thanks Kai, I’m glad you think I look pretty. I don’t do this often, but in HD you better do it.’
As the artist patted her face with a make-up sponge, she added: ‘I was so excited about Kai’s first speech when he chose such a big place to come out. He will love – I love you Kai.’
The clip, viewed more than 8 million times, certainly raised a few eyebrows.
‘That sounds kinda sis’, one person commented.
‘So it’s true we don’t want to call our daughter a sexist’, another said.
One said: ‘I think it’s weird and creepy that you think your daughter looks sexy.’
It may not go down well with viewers, but as one commentator seems to have seen ‘generation’.
Trump Jr.’s father has a history of making questionable comments about his own daughter.
Former president Trump, 78, once said he would date eldest daughter Ivanka, 42, if they weren’t in a relationship.
Her 2006 appearance on The View wasn’t the only time Trump had something to say about Ivanka.
That same year, he told radio host Howard Stern that Ivanka was ‘always very happy’.
She previously told Stern in 2004 that it’s not okay to call her daughter an ‘ass’.
Ivanka’s body was allegedly a regular topic of conversation for Trump during his presidency, a former administration official said in a book last year.
“Aides said they talked about Ivanka Trump’s breasts, her back, and what they could see with her,” said Miles Taylor, who is the chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security.
Kai, the eldest of Trump’s 10 grandchildren, painted a different picture of the former president during his speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday.
He said: ‘I’m talking today to show a side of my grandfather that people don’t often see.
‘To me, he’s just an ordinary grandpa. They gave us candy and soda when our parents weren’t looking. He always wanted to know how he was doing at school.’
Addressing the recent assassination attempt on Trump, he added: “A lot of people have put my grandfather through hell and he’s still standing.
‘Grandma, you are such an inspiration and I love you.’
