Production of White Lotus‘ the third season is very much done — and Walton Goggins giving fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes.
While waiting for the long-awaited new season of the exciting HBO series, Goggins has pulled back the curtain on the daily lives of the cast while working on the new episode, which is set in Thailand. On Instagram, the actor posted more than a dozen photos of himself, creator Mike Whiteand his friends — included Leslie Bib, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Poseyand Carrie Coon — spending time in the water and sitting at the table together.
“White Lotus day off…this experience is many things… but the most important thing is… it’s a good time! Joy joy,” captioned one of the posts. “Thank you @lifebywhiteto capture this moment. 📸.”
“The best!!!” Monaghan commented in agreement.
Franchise newcomer Bibb is also excited to check in at The White Lotus.
“I don’t know what he’s done, but I feel very grateful,” Bibb said ran to ET in an interview while promoting the AppleTV+ series, Palm Royale. “To play this woman who’s so complicated and weird and funny and scary and complicated, I just hope she does it justice.”
He joked, “I just want to shoot so no one can change their mind!”
The Emmy-winning social satire began filming in Thailand in mid-February, revealing stunning images from the tropical set.
“An unforgettable experience at #TheWhiteLotus. We are eager to welcome new guests to our resort in Thailand,” the Instagram account shows captioned a picturesque shot, which also includes a clapboard showing off the logo for the fictional resort, as well. as White’s name and cinematographer Ben Kutchins.
Like the first two seasons, the new installment will take place in one of the exotic locations of another luxury hotel, where a new group of guests and employees will find their lives clashing in unexpected ways.
In anticipation, ET explores everything we know about the cast, locations and plot — including the latest hints from White and what many sprawling ensembles have previously said about the return.
Cast
In early February, it was announced that BLACKPINKLisa will join the cast. ET confirmed that the 26-year-old singer, who also plays Lalisa Manobal, will officially make her acting debut on HBO’s hit anthology series in an undisclosed role. variety was the first to report the casting news.
Later, ET confirmed it survived stars Natalie Cole and Carl Boudreux have also been cast in undisclosed roles for the upcoming season. Both starred together White in season 37 of Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Evan Ross Katz the first to report the news.
This isn’t the first time White has kicked out his teammates David versus Goliath star. Alec Merlino is featured in White Lotus season 1 and Angelina Keeley and Kara Kay appear in season 2.
The upcoming third season also includes Patrick Schwarzenegger, Walter Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola and Aimee Lou Wood. HBO previously announced that Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason IsaacsMonaghan, Posey and Tayme Thapthimthong are set to join the series, along with previously announced cast members Natasha Rothwellwho reprises her role as spa manager Belinda Lindsey from the Hawaii-set season premiere.
“I can’t say anything. I literally can’t,” Rothwell told ET in December. “I’ll say I’ve read all the Scriptures and the people in it to heal. It’s bigger than ever. Buckle up.”
Many fans have previously wondered why Jennifer Coolidge will return as Tanya McQuiod, a grief-stricken guest who found comfort in Greg Hunt (Jon Gries) in season 1 before the two romances began to collapse in season 2. The 62-year-old actress won her first Primetime Emmy for the season. 1 and nominated again for revenge.
In an interview with deadline, White said that he could not imagine doing another installment without him. “Jennifer is my friend and everyone loved her in the first season, and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’ And maybe that’s the case, you can’t go to Japan without Jennifer either.
And Coolidge seemed open to more. “Yeah, yeah. Sure,” she told ET when asked about her return, before adding, “I mean, I don’t know what Mike thinks. But yeah, I’m happy (to be back).”
However, based on season 2 finaleCoolidge’s involvement with the series was over.
While Rothwell is the only returning star for this season, there are plenty more White Lotus alumni who will jump at the chance to check back. White before told deadline“There are a lot of fun actors we’ve worked with so far, so it’s just kind of like what’s available.”
Before the announcement of his reprise of the role, Rothwell had previously said, “I will follow Mike White to the ends of the earth.” The upcoming material could be a way to tie up Tanya’s storyline, which may have to close after the events of season 2.
In the ensemble of season 1, several told ET that they are willing to return to White Lotus.
“I’ll do anything with Mike White. Like, White Lotus season 3 (or) something totally different. You know, helping them move their boxes to their new home. Like, whatever you want. I absolutely love him and think he’s a genius. So, if anything happens to them and I’m called, I’ll be there,” Jake Lacy said, confirm that it is “100 percent” if White wants him to reprise his role as a guest Shane Patton.
Alexandra Daddario, who plays Shane’s wife Rachel, is also down to make a comeback. “If they have a good idea, so be it,” he said. “I’ll do anything … Just to be a small part of the series is amazing.”

One of the guest fans we know is alive and well is Daphne Babcock (Meghann Fahy), which finds her vacationing with Harper and her two husbands on a Sicilian property before discovering her mysterious body in the water. “Oh dear, of course,” Fahy said back. “I mean, I’m going to break the water on the third season. It’s going to be amazing. Like, just to witness all the people working. The cast is amazing and watching Mike work is going to be cool. I mean, I’m totally going to be there. .”
Unfortunately, there were others who could not return Murray Bartlett as season 1 which hotel manager Armand. That is, unless “we, like, go back in time or something,” he offered. And it seems like an unlikely turn for the series.
The location
White Lotus season 3 will be set in Thailand, taking place in and around Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok. HBO announced in January 2024 that they are working directly with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to support the filming and production of the show.

That goal fits White’s plans for the latest installment. “The first season we focused on money and then the second season it was sex and I think the third season, we might look satirical and funny about death in Eastern religion and spirituality,” he said in the making of the season. 2 videos. “It feels like a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
