England’s top players, including Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper and Katie Boulter, will take to the stage on Tuesday at the US Open, live in Sky Sports.
England’s women’s No. 1 bolter will be the first at 4pm BST when he took on Aliaksandra Sasnovich at Flushing Meadows.
Boulter has been consistent this year, winning two WTA Tour titles, but she wants to advance in the Grand Slam because so far in 2024 she has not gone beyond the second round of any major.
Dan Evans will play second in Court 6that can happen at around 6pm BST. He will face the dangerous Karen Khachanov.
Expectations won’t be high for Evans as he has only won five ATP Tour matches all year. But he will be lifted by a heroic display alongside Andy Murray in the Olympic doubles tournament in Paris.
Draper’s run to the fourth round last year showed that he is a threat on American hard courts. Draper will start the tournament against China’s Zhang Zhizhen. They are expected to play around 7 p.m.
Draper, the British men’s No. 1, was accused of cheating after a controversial match point at the Cincinnati Open against Felix Auger-Aliassime in which he appeared to hit the ball into the ground at the net before the round.
Referee Greg Allensworth ruled it was a legal shot but Draper, who insists he is not lying, has attracted criticism for not conceding the point.
However, reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament was an encouraging sign for Draper he split with coach Wayne Ferreira before this competition.
Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, will not play before 11pm BST.
She has a tough draw, going straight into another Grand Slam champion, Sofia Kenin, who won the Australian Open in 2020.
“I just feel the passion and the desire,” said Raducanu, who reached the fourth round of Wimbledon this year, his best performance at a Slam since his unexpected US Open win.
Which of course raises the question – can he repeat his historic victory?
“I’m pretty sure,” Sky Sports‘ Naomi Cavaday said about Raducanu’s chances. “The US Open is where he really enjoys it. He’s beyond superstars there, just like he is here. I can really see him finding his best level.”
Relation Sky Sports commentator Jonathan Overend added: “When he qualifies and wins in 2021, all these predictions are irrelevant for the rest of the time.
“Can he do it again? You have to say he can.”
