The discussion ends when Travis openly reveals that he plans to serve as a sportscaster after him retired from playing.
Jason began the conversation by admitting that he didn’t think the brothers “could” buy a minority stake in any NFL team, eventually spreading rumors that Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator and star Rob McElhenney “might have made an offer” in the Eagles.
“Rob, can we join this?” Jason said.
“Don’t try to tag me in,” replied Travis. “It’s you.”
Jason asked, “You’re going to say you’re going to turn it down? … You get an opportunity to own an NFL team and you’re going to say ‘No’?”
Travis confirmed without hesitation, explaining, “I want to broadcast when I’m done playing.”
The admission came as a shock to Jason, who responded, “You want to broadcast? You’re talking now. You want to broadcast.”
“Yeah,” Travis replied, jokingly affecting his old sports commentator impersonation.
“I want the bastard to do it,” he added. “I want to be the talking head that calls the game.”
Travis references apparent conflict of interest that Tom Brady now facing, as former midfielder broadcast navigation deal with Fox Sports when he pursued minority ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders.
After retiring in March, Jason recently signed up to be sportscaster for ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Brother the first task will be in San Francisco this fall when the 49ers face off against the New York Jets.
“I would have backed out of my TV deal right now if you told me I could own the Philadelphia Eagles,” Jason said on Wednesday’s podcast.
“No way,” Travis scoffed.

Travis recently signed a two-year contract extension with Kansas City Chiefs. The $34.25 million deal — which includes $17 million fully guaranteed this year — makes Kelce the highest-paid tight end in the league.
