Recently, the Devdas actress even hosted a grand birthday party for her daughter’s 13th birthday, but her father Abhishek was nowhere to be seen. In the midst of all this, an old video of Jaya Bachchan has gone viral, in which she claims that Aishwarya is not her daughter, but her daughter-in-law, and she maintains that boundary.
In a video shared on Instagram by dystopiacape, Jaya is chatting with designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Jaya openly discusses her role as a mother-in-law. When asked if she was strict with Aishwarya after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya replied firmly: “Strict? She’s not my daughter! She’s my daughter-in-law. Why should I be strict with her? I’m sure her mother did that for her”.
Jaya explained her opinion by saying, “There is a difference between a daughter and a son-in-law, you know. I mean, I don’t know why, but you don’t feel the need to respect your parents. As a daughter, you take your parents for granted. You can’t do it with your father-in-law.” These differences highlight the different expectations and responsibilities associated with each family role.
Jaya also admits that relationships can develop over time. He noted, “And later, it changed – because today, I feel like I’m a Bachchan instead of a Bhaduri”. The statement reflects his relationship with the Bachchan family, which suggests that his bond with Aishwarya could be getting stronger over time.

On Thursday afternoon, the legendary actor wrote a long note on his blog, and explained why he doesn’t talk much about his family. He also spoke about the truth behind the speculation. Big B wrote, “It takes confidence, courage and sincerity to be different and believe in your presence in life.. I rarely talk about my family, because that domain and privacy have been maintained by me.. Speculation is speculation.. they are not true speculation, without verify..”
He further revealed why he believes in protecting his family’s privacy. “I rarely talk much about my family, because it is my domain and privacy is protected by me.
