Criticized for long queues, crowded terminals and lax security, Manchester Airport doesn’t have the best reputation, with Terminal 3 recently named Which?
But the new exclusive private terminal hopes to ‘revolutionize airport passenger travel’, meaning you can start your holiday like an A-lister.
Located away from the rest of the terminal, this new offering describes itself as a ‘sanctuary’, where guests can take care of ‘every aspect of their journey’.
Upon arrival, you receive a personal welcome from the host, who will ensure you have all your boarding passes and travel documents.
Even without a flight display, staff keep passengers updated, eliminating the stress of ‘go to gate’ boarding, and last minute stops.
The terminal has a minimal and modern interior, where guests can enjoy a menu ‘carefully curated’ by Adam Reid, French chef-patron of The Midland Hotel.
A special chauffeur-driven car will be waiting to pick up guests from the terminal and directly to the plane for boarding.
Sound like heaven? It gets better.
Luxury living comes with a very affordable price tag of just £90. Compare that to Heathrow’s Windsor Suite package (including takeaway from home and Michelin-starred food) which starts at £3,025 for up to 3 people, and it’s pretty darn good.
The private terminal, the first in British aviation, is called Aether, and was opened by Manchester Airport Group (MAG) on November 4, to offer ‘end-to-end services’, completely separate from the other terminals of the airport.
This kind of service is usually reserved for first and business class passengers, but just because it is a private terminal, it does not mean that you need a private jet – it will be available to all travelers at Manchester Airport as a purchasable service.
So, you can start your vacation like a VIP, before jumping on the plane with an unpaid ticket.
‘Everything in the private terminal has been designed to make you comfortable on board,’ the Aether website reads.
Aether is open daily between 4am and 10pm offering access to a range of flights from partner airlines, including British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic.
For those considering an ‘elevated airport experience’, Aether offers two different packages, which can be an alternative to booking an airport lounge, which costs anywhere between £20 and £50, at Manchester Airport.
Aether’s ‘Express’ package is designed for departure only and is suitable for those traveling with cabin bags.
The service allows passengers to go directly through the private terminal and directly to the gate. With this option, passengers only need to arrive 70 minutes before the flight.
The ‘Inclusive’ package ranges between £150 and £170 per person and is designed for cabin or checked bag holders.
It can be used on either departure or arrival and allows guests to enjoy a full dining experience and includes alcohol and soft drinks.
With this option, passengers can arrive up to three hours before departure. They can also bring non-traveling guests to enjoy the experience and hug them goodbye before their flight.
