Netflix fans discover a hidden gem drama that has been flying under the radar for a year.
Viewers have admitted to ‘staying up all night’ to watch Pact of Silence about a woman who wants revenge on her mother, who abandoned her when she was a baby.
On Rotten Tomatoes. fans of the Mexican drama, including the user AlyshiaS, said they were ‘hooked from the beginning’ of the 18-part series.
Expressing his sentiments, ABlessingToYou said: ‘Happy!!!!!! I really enjoyed watching this series from start to finish. I want to stay all night just to watch it, lol… For one thing, I hate that it has to end.’
ShayneO enthused: ‘From the first 10 minutes I was hooked. This is a great story line that I love and enjoy. I found myself up until after the heart of the night watching another episode. Will definitely miss it once I’m done with all the episodes.’
LinZ also added: ‘I love this series so much!!! It is mysterious with many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I binge watched all 10 episodes in one day. However, some questions remain unanswered. I really hope the writers will make a season 2, maybe even more, to keep us going.’
Pact of Silence follows social media influencer Brenda (Camila Valero) as she infiltrates the lives of four women and their best friends, discovering that one of them is their long-lost mother.
However, the four women make a pact not to reveal who gave birth to their teenage daughter, complicating Brenda’s quest for revenge.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Pact of Silence has an audience score of 71% – and critics are impressed too.
Graeme Blundell for The Australian said: ‘This is a revenge story in the style of a telenovela and is made with high cinematic style and the same narrative spinning.
In Decider, Joel Keller wrote: ‘Pact Of Silence is a bit strange and has the potential to go in many crazy directions, but we wouldn’t expect anything different from a telenovela.’
Pact of Silence isn’t the only Netflix show to have gone down a storm with critics recently – with Supacell, Savage Beauty and The Mole scoring a perfect 100% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Savage Beauty centers on a woman who, in an attempt to avenge the tragic, embeds herself into a powerful family that runs a global beauty empire – and that also hides its own secrets.
Meanwhile, Supacell follows a group of men living in south London who suddenly discover they have superpowers, and the men who must unite to save the woman they love.
Finally, The Mole, a reboot of the game show that originally aired on US screens from 2001-2008, sees 12 players take on the challenge of adding money to the prize pot – except that one of the number has been assigned as ‘mole’, whose job it is to sabotage their efforts as much as possible.
Pact of Silence is available to stream on Netflix.
