Known professionally as Lady Miss Kier Kirby, she was part of the 90s band Deee-lite, and was one of the voices behind the hit song Groove in the Heart.
Lady Miss Kier – real name Kierin Magenta Kirby, 61 – has not been in the spotlight since the group broke up in the year after their one-hit wonder, but a new picture of the star shows that she has employed her signature look.
And the groove is still in everyone’s mind if the comments on his Instagram page are worth doing.
Even though she hasn’t posted in over 10 years, she still has fans logging into her account to check it out.
Indeed, the post dated February 2014 showed the star looking like she was in the 90s – wrapped in a leopard print coat while wearing ruby red lipstick and her signature red hair cut into a short bob.
‘Lady Miss Kier Winter Wonderland 2014,’ read the caption accompanying the 10-year-old’s post.
As a vocalist in the band Deee-lite, Lady Miss Kier is best known for her song Groove is in the Heart, taken from her 1990 debut album World Clique.
The song reached number two on the UK Official Singles Chart while taking number one on the US Dance Club Chart and heading up various other charts around the world.
The band was formed in 1986, with Lady Miss Kier on vocals and songwriting, along with her friends Dmitry Brill and Towa Tei.
In 1992, the band released their second album, Infinity Within. Like his third album, 1994’s Dewdops in the Garden, the album failed to chart well on its debut.
The group broke up shortly after, due to disagreements between Lady Miss Kier and Dmitry Brill. The group released a greatest hits album in 2001.
Outside of Deee-lite, Lady Miss was also a fashion icon during her time – she graced the cover of Italian Vogue in 1990, and was named a style icon by Elle, Glamour, Rookie and Rookie.
His distinctive sense of fashion led him to sue the video game company Sega for alleged illegal use in the game Space Channel 5.
However, the court sided with Sega – and they were forced to pay $608,000 (£474,000) in legal fees to the studio after a judge ruled the resemblance was not close enough to be considered illegal.
After breaking up with the band, he toured London as a disc jockey and music producer, and has played at festivals such as Coachella in 2010, and Sydney Mardi Gras in 2012.
In 2005, he exercised political activism to perform live, covering the anti-war song Bullet Proof in protest of the invasion of Iraq.
Although she seems to be retreating from the limelight, her fans continue to check up on her via Instagram.
‘I really think this is the perfect time for Lady Kier to make a comeback,’ wrote user jaclyn.desantis in a ‘new’ post.
‘Aaaaw, where is Mrs. Kier?? I miss your presence. Man, what a life you’ve led. Wherever you are, I hope that you are surrounded by the peace and comfort and joy that your love has always felt deep in your soul. The house music and dance vibes will thank you for your presence,” says pachalaura.
