Singapore Airlines is no longer the world’s best airline as Qatar Airways now holds the top spot, according to air transport rating company Skytrax.
Qatar Airways said it is the eighth time it has topped the ranking since 2011. The airline was second in last year’s ranking.
Singapore Airlines is now in second place in the rankings, Skytrax announced on Monday, followed by Emirates in third place which is higher than last year.
Asian airlines dominate the top 10, with no US airlines among the leaders of the ranking. Delta Air Lines is the top airline in the US at 21St position, down by one point from last year.
The award is based on a customer survey, which Skytrax said was completed by customers from more than 100 countries in the 2023-2024 edition. A series of other awards are presented by Skytrax along with the top airline rankings, including regional breakdowns and awards for different types of flights.
Overall winner Qatar Airways was also voted best business class in the world and top airline in the Middle East, while runner-up Singapore Airlines was listed as best cabin crew in the world and best first class, as well as best airline in Asia.
When it comes to budget travel, Malaysia’s AirAsia comes out on the list of cheapest airlines and Singapore’s Scoot is named the best low-cost airline for long-haul flights.
Delta Air Lines TOP 10 regional North America, followed by Air Canada, United Airlines, Porter Airlines and Air Transat. Three of the top five are based in Canada, with other US air travel giants lower.
