A Strictly Come Dancing 2024 contestant is just seconds away from a big spoiler on BBC Breakfast.
Olympian Sam Quek, 35, is one of 15 celebrities in the line-up for this year’s ballroom event, which launches in just a few days.
All the stars have sworn to secrecy over the identity of their professional partners but Sam almost let slip this morning.
On BBC Breakfast, the hockey player confirmed he had been paired with a partner, prompting presenter Naga Munchetty to ask: ‘Does your partner watch?’
‘I hope so,’ Sam replied, before putting his hand over his mouth in shock.

He shouted: ‘I want to say his name!’
Presenter Charlie Stayt warned Sam to be ‘careful’, while Naga admitted it would have been ‘very funny’ if he had spilled the beans.
However, that secrecy hasn’t stopped Strictly sleuths putting their detective skills to good use in an attempt to track down the pair.
They believe Strictly’s first blind contestant, comedian Chris McCausland, 47, has been working with Australian redhead Dianne Buswell, 35.
Reddit user Fine_Promise_1852 uploaded a screenshot to the site after opening the YouTube app and was shown Chris’s Strictly VT and one of Dianne’s own vlogs directly below.
‘Look what just happened to pop up on my YouTube feed…. Of course it’s just a strange coincidence but maybe it’s a sign who knows 😜🤘’, he wrote.
A source previously claimed Love Islander Tasha Ghouri and Strictly veteran Aljaz Skorjanec, who returned after a three-year absence, have been paired to bring back the ‘feel-good factor.’
Meanwhile, DIY SOS hosts Nick Knowles and Nadiya Bychkova were spotted at the same shopping mall in London sparking speculation they’ll be hitting the ballroom floor together.
However, viewers won’t have to wait until all is revealed tonight when the first Strictly live show airs.
This year, alongside Sam, Chris and Towie’s Pete Wicks lookalikes, Go Compare singer Wynne Evans and JLS singer JB Gill are competing for the glitterball trophy.
He will be joined by former footballer Paul Merson, 80s music icon Toyah Willcox and BBC Morning Live star Dr Punam Krishan.
Completing the line-up are Gladiator athlete Montell Douglas, Olympic swimmer Tom Dean, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, X Factor winner Shayne Ward, and actress Miranda Sarah Hadland.
Before becoming a presenter on The Morning Live, Sam won 125 international caps for England and the England women’s hockey team, and won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In the 2017 New Year’s Awards, he was made an MBE for services to hockey, and since retirement has appeared regularly on the BBC’s sports coverage.
Sam has also hosted the BBC’s Tokyo Olympics breakfast program and the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, is captain of the Sports Questions team, and has appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Strictly Come Dancing 2024 starts on Saturday, September 14 at 7.20pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
