Bristol Palin and his ex-fiancé Levi Johnston‘s romantic relationship was short-lived, but they always put their son, Tripp, first.
“We have the same common goal of what’s best for Tripp. It’s taken a long time to get there, but we’re getting there,” Palin exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2018.

For seven years, Johnston fought Bristol for joint custody of Tripp. Bristol claims that Johnston owes $66,000 in child support when she denies her claim.
The request was finally granted in February.
“I’m so blessed to have my son in my life, and all of this is going back to court behind me,” Johnston wrote via Facebook. “It probably took 7 years and about $100,000 in attorney fees, spread between 3 different attorneys, and a lot of patience, but it was all worth it. I’m happy now that we’re successfully coparenting.”
He continued, “Even though I owe him more, all I have paid is $50,000 in child support for Tripp, which is $600 a month, since Tripp was born, so I know that I have worked hard to fulfill my obligations as a father. Despite what some have heard that I have always been there for people, and I go to almost every school event that I can and spend all my free time with my children. Now, life is really looking for our family.”

Meyer weighs in on the exes’ dynamic, exclusively told us that Johnston was an “amazing” father to Tripp.
“I don’t have anything, but I have to talk about Levi as a father,” Meyer said. “I consider him a friend. I have nothing but good things to say about (his wife), Sunny, she is a loving mother. He cares. I will still be friends with him.”

Bristol revealed on the “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast that it “hurts her stomach” to live away from Tripp.
“It’s just Tripp and me, and then I have the girls, but it’s always Tripp and me,” she said. “(Tripp) needs that relationship. He thinks it’s the best thing right now and all I can do is hope and pray for the best. … As hard as it is for me, and as hard as it is for the girls, I know they have to improving his relationship with his father.
Bristol added, “Selfishly, I was like, ‘I just want her with me forever.’ He’s my best friend. My kids are my whole world. But I can’t be selfish about it.”
