Will Taylor Swift show up at the DNC?
Swifties, along with many Americans, expected Taylor Swift to endorse Kamala Harris in the White House.
Right now, the Democratic National Convention is underway, with many famous and influential guests among them.
Will Taylor take a break from her Eras Tour to stop by Chicago and give the campaign some star power?
Will Taylor Swift show up at the DNC?
Taylor Swift has been filling arenas around the world for months. The Eras Tour has seen Taylor officially achieve billionaire status.
The DNC doesn’t need Taylor’s help filling seats. Vice President Harris’ appearances across the country have drawn crowds as he and Governor Tim Walz appeal to voters.
But Taylor, who has used his massive platform for political statements in the past, will be a welcome addition to the lineup. And featuring popular and relevant celebrities will help further contrast with the collection of has-beens and “who?” of conservative celebrities.
However, according to reports from deadlineTaylor Swift will not appear at the DNC. And for good reason.
“Everybody loves Taylor, but having her here will overshadow everything,” a source at the DNC said.
“Think about it,” the insider reasoned. “No one will remember the words of the Vice President in his acceptance speech. All the headlines will be about Swift.
The DNC is about the 2024 Election, not entertainment
“It’s not helping us right now,” an insider summed up Taylor Swift’s advice speaking at the DNC.
Vice President Kamala Harris has gained popularity. However, celebrity superstars can sometimes interfere with important messaging.
Sometimes this time funnylike Clint Eastwood’s chair skit at the RNC in 2012. But there’s too much at stake in 2024 to channel star power through politics.
In many ways, Harris’ Vice Presidential campaign benefited from the new approach. Galvanizing voters who felt disillusioned.
Some felt disappointed by President Biden’s performance in the primary — and the final debate. Others have expressed frustration and despair that the Biden Administration has allowed Israel’s campaign against Gazans to continue.
The Harris/Walz campaign could certainly benefit from Taylor Swift’s potential endorsement. But even if they accept it, the endorsement is a far cry from the DNC speech.
They’re not going to endorse Trump, are they?
Apparently, disgraced former president Donald Trump seems to be obsessed with Taylor Swift. Some of her fans even used controversial plagiarism software to create pictures of Taylor supporting her.
But he hasn’t. And it’s safe to say Taylor will no, neither. Although Taylor does not often weigh in on politics, he has made clear political leanings in the past.
One could argue that a core part of Trump’s frustration over the past decade is not receiving love from the likes of Taylor Swift. Her group tends to include weirdos and geriatrics like her, and deep down… that should push her up the wall.
