A Suit A reunion movie may be in the future, but there are a few things that need to happen first.
Chatting with ET’s Cassie DiLaura from the show’s reunion panel at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, Patrick J. Adams, Sarah RaffertyAmanda Schull and Bukit Dulé open about whether fans will return to Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett Law Firm anytime soon.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a model where you have some kind of movie,” Hill — who plays season 7 extra Alex Williams — told ET, adding that he could see a potential project. or a movie at the Peacock for events. Hill, 49, would know a thing or two about that as the USA Network’s flagship show, Psychhas three follow-up films on the NBCUniversal-owned streamer.
“Oh my gosh, we’re going to have so much fun,” added Rafferty, 51 – an original cast member of the nine-season legal procedural. The actress plays Donna, Harvey Specter’s spitfire legal secretary (Gabriel Macht) and eventually the CEO of a law firm — and Harvey’s wife.
“It’s going to be a blast,” Hill replied. “I mean, I was just going to put it in there.”
Adams, 42, is quick to give his own odds, telling ET that it’s not out of the question that the stars will have to align at the right time for the cast, crew and creator Aaron Korsh, who is currently hard at work. at future pilot of Setting: LA, spinoff in the same universe.
“I don’t want to talk to Aaron, but the motivation for him is always the story, and if he sits there and he creates something that excites him – whether it’s with the character or a new character like Setting: LA — and then when he gets passionate about something, great things happen,” the actor — who is best known for playing Mike Ross on the show — shared.
He added, “That’s how our show happens and that’s how it is Setting: LA it’s happening. So I know from him that he’s very excited about the idea of a film format for us, but, you know, I think the main job is that he’s got it. Setting: LA from the ground now.”
As for whether or not they will consider appearing in the spinoff, the cast members each agree that if Korsh calls, they will pick up the phone and match again.
During the panel, Adams further commented on the millions of fans (no exaggeration) he hopes to achieve Suit film, in response to one viewer who asked, replied, “It will depend on the million if it can happen, but it can.”
Here you have it, folks. Those in charge have heard the plea and seen the petition. It’s going to be hard to miss because the show is, in fact, the most-released show of 2023.
The original show — which also stars Gina TorresRick Hoffman, Katherine Heigl and Meghan Markle – ended in September 2019 after an eight-year run on the USA Network. It follows a group of lawyers, paralegals and others in the field every day at a NYC-based firm. The catch — at least for the first few seasons — is that Adams’ character, Mike, isn’t an actual lawyer, but a college graduate who impresses Harvey with his extensive legal knowledge in the first episode.
Markle, 42, plays Rachel Zane – a paralegal who falls in love with Mike early on in the show. He finally left Suit besides Adams at the end of season 7 because in no small part to marrying Prince Harry back in May 2018 – many weddings from cast members attended. While Adams returned as a special guest in the final season, the Duchess of Sussex did not. It’s unclear if he’ll be back for whatever project he’s working on resigned from royal duties which he and his wife, 39, took in 2020.
For fans hoping to see a sequel to the original Suit story, the same connection gang is more than open to reprising the character if the network is willing to put it back on the air in the Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett series.
“Let’s start a petition,” said Schull, 45, who plays Katrina Bennett.
“I think first (we) have to have it Setting: LA become a hit then they will be looking for more,” replied Hill. “If Setting: LA it’s a hit and then I’m sure there will be (more spinoffs).”
When asked who will be going down to continue the story of the show, everyone answered correctly. Five years out from the last series, the cast say they’re confident there’s more story – and wilder experiences – for the characters than they can all take on.
“Absolutely,” Adams said. “We really love each other and we really get along really well.”
“I’m definitely down for a story,” added Hill, to whom Rafferty replied, “I’d like to.”
Adams also joked about the potential for a Suit spinoff in Seattle – where the character and Markle ended up – and said it would be fun to explore the area, perhaps bringing in Edward Darby, the international lawyer he plays. Game of Thrones Conleth Hill alum.
When he said that Darby might not be able to, he would like to explore more with Mike, potentially in the Pacific Northwest.
“I don’t think there are enough shows set in Seattle. I think we can really mine that,” Adams said, adding that his wife on the screen (Markle) is probably not there. “I think he might be busy.”
Everyone else is on the spot. They agree that as life goes on, they don’t stay in touch as much as they’d like, so a follow-up project could be the perfect opportunity to reconnect outside of the group chat, which is where the cast is. before speaking to ET about.
Until Korsh is ready to make a movie, Adams and Rafferty have found a way to reconnect while engaging fans in a form watch it again watch the podcast!
Earlier this year, the couple announced they will come together (and bring some amazing guests along the way) to watch the show together for Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast, which will break down each episode and give fans behind-the-scenes secrets over on SiriusXM.
“Everybody’s all over the place, but luckily Sarah and I have been spending some time together working on this podcast — watching podcasts,” Adams told ET on Sunday, clarifying that he had never seen the show. full.
For them, that means bringing in prop masters, casting directors and more people who work on the show to give a full picture view of what’s going on. Of course, they will also use some time to talk to fans and answer questions, which both say is important.
“We really want to hear from them because I think part of the inspiration for doing the podcast is (fan interest) in the resurgence,” Rafferty said of the show, which doesn’t have a release date yet, but is coming out soon. later this year, SiriusXM previously showed.
“We have to sit here and be the face of it – there are 152 people to show us what it is,” Adams added. “I’m really excited to bring them into the fold and introduce them to what the show is all about because it’s a crazy circus.”
The conversation with ET comes the same day Netflix announced that five years into the show’s ninth and final season. will start streaming on July 1. Seasons 1-8 are now available and have been since 2023. In total, more than 57.5 billion minutes of Suit watched in 2023. In just one week, Nielsen recorded 3.88 billion minutes watched — a record for the rating system.
