“Saturday Night Live” delivered clear opposition to Donald Trump in the first cold snap after his election victory this week, with actors showing their support for him.
The show began in earnest, with cast member Ego Nwodim saying that Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris was “surprising and even shocking” to many. As the cast pointedly noted that there is no protection today for those “brave enough to speak out against him,” the punchline came when cast member Kenan Thompson said, “We at SNL want to say to Donald Trump, we’re with you all. “
“We have never wavered in your support, even when others doubt you,” said cast member Bowen Yang.
The skit goes on to joke that all the liberal cast members voted for Trump and want their kids to emulate him, and that they’ll fire anyone on SNL who votes for Harris.
KAMALA HARRIS APPEARS ON ‘SNL’ IN FINAL EPISODE BEFORE ELECTION
James Austin Johnson, who portrays Trump, appeared in a muscular bodysuit for SNL’s recent impression of “hot, jacked Trump,” with his eyes wide open. Dana Carvey also made a cameo for parody billionaire Elon Musk, who he also said he supported.
“Salute Trump,” Thompson said at one point.
Comedian Bill Burr hosted the episode on Saturday and addressed the election in his monologue, telling “women” to stop wearing pants.
“Ladies, you’re 0-2 against this guy,” Burr said. “Enough with the pantsuits. It doesn’t work. Stop trying to have your own thing. You don’t win office like in wisdom, you know? You have to whore it up a little. I didn’t say go full. Hooters. Find a happy medium between Applebee’s and your father doesn’t stay .
DONALD TRUMP’S TOP THREE ‘SNL’ MOMENTS
Burr continued to poke fun at undecided voters in the race and even suggested Trump survived his first assassination attempt because of his “jerky moves” on stage.
“The man is a lunatic,” Burr said of Trump. “I mean, he literally got shot and immediately jumped back up and started yelling in the direction of the bullet coming, unarmed. That’s not a sane human being. I must have been on the ground in the fetal position like, ‘I don’t ‘I don’t want a job ! Say he won!’
Burr memorably appeared on “Conan” after the inauguration of Trump in 2017 and surprised the liberal audience by blasting Hillary Clinton for blowing the election.
SNL has done little to hide its disdain for Trump over the years, hosting the show twice, including during his first term as president in 2015. Trump quickly fell out of favor on SNL, which was blatant. celebrating his defeat in the hands of Joe Biden in 2020.
It also did its best to boost Harris, giving him a guest spot on his final show before last week’s election. She appeared as a “mirror image” of herself on Saturday night, portrayed by Maya Rudolph, at the end of the cold open in front of a cheering audience.
SNL TAKEN AS ‘PR ARM’ OF DEMOCRATIC PARTY AFTER HOSTING HARRIS DAYS BEFORE ELECTION
Two days later, Trump easily defeated Harris, completing a remarkable political comeback and becoming only the second president to win non-consecutive terms.
This time, the show tried to laugh at the cold open after grappling with disappointing election results.
SNL mourned Clinton’s loss to Trump in 2016, with actress Kate McKinnon as Clinton played “Hallelujah” on the piano and tearfully told the audience that she did not “give up, and will not send you.”

The show went on to parody liberals who were convinced that Republicans would never win the White House again and were convinced that Clinton would win.
