Shannen Doherty remembered for his career, life and friendship. On Sunday, ET confirmed that the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charm alum died at age 53 after a year-long battle with cancer.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress, Shannen Doherty,” the actress’ publicist, Leslie Sloane, told ET in a statement. “On Saturday, July 13 he succumbed to cancer after years of fighting the disease.”
The statement continued, “Her beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend is surrounded by loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
Doherty’s life was celebrated by him Let’s Be Clear podcast account, where he speaks candidly and publicly about the good, the bad and the ugly of life and the fight against cancer.
“Shannen, thank you for sharing so many great memories on your podcast. What a wonderful gift to leave your fans. We send so much love to our friends and family, you are loved and missed. Forever #TheShando ❤️ Love Always, You Let’s Be Clear family,” the post was accompanied by a throwback photo of the actress.
The late actress was remembered by him Beverly Hills, 90120 co-stars and friends for a long time in the series of taxes.
Jason Priestleywho plays the twin brother, Brandon Walsh, reacted to the news with a classic shot from the character.
“Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time,” he wrote.
Carol Potter, who plays Cindy Walsh and Doherty’s TV mother 90210also paid tribute to Doherty for his fierce bravery.
“I’m sorry we didn’t connect with Shannon growing up — we missed her when we were back in life,” Potter said. Instagram posts. “He lived life on his own terms, which sometimes confused those around him. I was particularly impressed by the honesty and transparency with which he spoke about cancer and the possibility of death. for all of us.”
Gabrielle Carteris message mentions the end Beverly Hills, 90120 co-star, Luke Perry, who played Doherty’s love interest, Dylan McKay. They died in 2019 after suffering a stroke. He is 52 years old.
“So young – so sad. I hope you RIP Shannon. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you,” she wrote.

Jennie Garth — who co-starred with Doherty in the BEverly Hills, 90120 — wrote an emotional tribute to his late friend on Instagram.
“I’m still processing the grief of losing my longtime friend Shannen, a woman I often describe as one of the strongest people I know. Our relationship is real and honest. We’re often pitted against each other but nothing reflects the truth our relationship is built on. with mutual respect and esteem,” he wrote. “She was brave, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always cherish her in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie 💔.”
Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin in BEverly Hills, 90120, paid tribute to Doherty on her Instagram story.
Ejaan then sent a long message to his last friends in an Instagram post.
“F**k her…what would Shan say if I told her that I felt pressured to summarize through social media our 36-year relationship and the sadness I felt because the fire was burning so fast,” she wrote. “I was 15 when Shan and I met. I was the boss’s daughter without a voice and he was a star with a great voice. He took me under his wing. He gave me confidence that I have a voice and deserve it. We became best friends.”
“We were each other’s wing women, true confidantes, support systems navigating bad relationships, roomates of sorts at times, travel buddies, and more. He always stuck up for me. Always my password back. ‘t or can’t believe in myself We were our youth so many external and internal influences on us in a world where we often do not ask to make with friends that are formed so many adults you become, we get the opportunity that I thank @theshando and I have to go back in time as an adult friend and remember why we really fell in love to begin with No one can make me laugh like that.

Doherty’s career also includes roles as Prue Halliwell Charm. In a statement to ET, her friend, Alyssa Milano, described their up-and-down relationship.
“It’s no secret that Shannen and I have a complicated relationship, but at the core, we’re someone I respect and admire,” Milano said. “She was a talented actress, loved by many and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her.”
Rose McGowan, who also starred in the series, remembered her longtime friend with an award and video montage.
“Shannen Doherty has the heart of a lion. Passion for work is often mislabeled as an obstacle. Shannen had passion. I met her in the 90s and was amazed. Getting to really know her later in life, a beautiful gift,” he wrote. “This woman is fighting for her life. Shannen knows how to be a star since she was a child. Her work ethic is inspiring to the end. Shannen’s great love for directing, for acting, Holly, her friends, her parents, her dog and her lover. Her fans are legendary. “
He continued: “Our lives are intertwined in a unique way. We laugh at the dark forces that want us to hate each other, instead we choose love and respect. May the angels and God bring them to the holy kingdom of healthy, young and wild in forever.
and Charm star Holly Marie Combs also paid tribute to her “half over 31 years” in an emotional message.
“There’s a hole in my chest and I can’t hold my breath. Some of me is missing even though I know exactly what you’re going to say to me right now. I know exactly what you’re going to do right now,” he wrote. “I know your immortal spirit will live on in me and my children whom you love as your own. They will walk with purpose and pride. They will be honest and stand up for what is right. .”
“Your fire will live on in them and many more Charmed you helped raise. A fierce fighter to the end. My most passionate champion. My loyal protector. My best friend. You taught me the meaning of family. You have been and will always be my brother who I don’t love you.
