San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall was seen walking away from the shooting on Saturday after a failed robbery attempt left him with a bullet wound to the chest.
As seen in a video shared on X by KTVU’s Zak Sos, an injured Pearsall was led by emergency responders to a waiting ambulance, where he was placed on a stretcher. Pearsall is moving slowly along the length, which is taken from the opposite side of the road. She didn’t look too sad but covered her chest.
The 23-year-old recipient is currently in serious but stable condition at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and the suspect is in custody.
KGO-TV’s Dion Lim reports that Pearsall signed autographs at the Cattle Palace before heading downtown to Union Square for some shopping. Lim’s source said he was at a high-end designer store before the shooting. The first-round pick was targeted through a Rolex watch, according to police.
A 23-year-old Arizona native, Pearsall is one week away from his first NFL game against the New York Jets on September 9, although his status has been clouded by a shoulder injury. He was taken with the 31st pick of April’s NFL Draft and signed a four-year, $12.5 million contract after playing at Arizona State and Florida.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins also released a statement following the shooting.
“Violent crime has no place in our city and I will continue to work closely with the San Francisco Police Department and law enforcement to make our city safer,” Brooke said.
“I want to thank the SFPD for making an immediate arrest,” Brooke said. ‘When the case is presented to our office, we will quickly review all the evidence and make an appropriate decision. We cannot and will not tolerate senseless crime in San Francisco, and my office will ensure that there is accountability.’

Violent crime has skyrocketed in San Francisco during the pandemic, with 56 and 48 murders in 2021 and 2020, respectively.
Pearsall had been performing well in training camp before the shoulder injury.
With starting receiver Brandon Aiyuk on hold until this week, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Pearsall impressed coaches and teammates with his polish.
‘I don’t like to praise the new guy too much, but I like his game,’ cornerback Isaac Yiadom said in early August, as quoted by the Associated Press. ‘I have faith too. He got some dogs, so he knew. He knew he was good. I just hope they keep working. That’s the thing I like about him. He just left for work. He just shut up and he just went to work.’
Coach Kyle Shannahan’s offense has been tough on young players — especially receivers — but Pearsall seems to be grasping the scheme.
‘I’ve taken big steps since I’ve got here,’ Pearsall said. ‘In the beginning, it was a bit difficult. Coming to an offense like this, which is very complicated, there are a lot of them. Trying to learn everything in one day is impossible. So I just tell them over and over and every day how we can get better and improve and understand the playbook.’
