Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asserted that the main struggle in the country today is to protect and preserve the Constitution.
He said the country’s Constitution was not written with hatred, but with humility and love.
“The main battle in the country today, which is being waged, is the battle for the Constitution of our country. Priyanka is the Congress candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha elections.
“The Constitution was not written in anger or hatred. It was written by those who fought against the British, those who suffered, who spent years and years and years in jail. And they wrote the Constitution with humility, with love and with love, ” he said.

Priyanka accused the Modi government of dividing people, spreading hatred among them and taking away their rights, besides destroying democratic institutions.
“They attacked Rahul Gandhi Ji for going against the rights of the people,” the Congress leader said.

Priyanka promised to continue her struggle to establish a medical college here with complete health facilities.
In his speech, the Congress leader also highlighted the night curfew, traffic problems on the Ghat Road, man-animal conflict, tribal and agrarian issues in the hill constituencies.
Referring to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Program (MGNREGA) which has greatly benefited the tribal communities, he said that the Central funds for this program and the availability of jobs through the scheme have reduced.

The Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency consists of seven Assembly segments– Mananthavady (ST), Sulthan Bathery (ST) and Kalpetta in Wayanad district, Thiruvambady in Kozhikode district and Eranad, Nilambur, and Wandoor in Malappuram district.
The by-election for the Wayanad LS seat was called for after Rahul Gandhi, who won the Lok Sabha polls from there and the Rae Bareli constituency, decided to vacate Wayanad.
Voting in Wayanad will be held on November 13.
