William and Kate have always appeared together at Trooping the Color since they became official members of the royal family in April 2011. The two are skipping small-scale celebrations in 2020 and 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kate, 42, announced in March that she had been diagnosed with an unknown cancer and was undergoing preventive chemotherapy. Earlier in the year, she stepped down from public duties, explaining in a video announcement that she and William “have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for our young family” while she focuses on healing.
The princess confirmed on Friday, June 14, that she will attend on Saturday with her three children.
“I have been overwhelmed by all the messages of support and encouragement over the last few months. It has really made a world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the more difficult times,” she said in a statement. “I’m making good progress, but as anyone who’s been through chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days. On the bad days, you feel weak, tired and need to rest. But on the good days, if you feel strong, you want to maximize your sense of well-being.

As for William, he has played a role in public while Kate and Charles, 75, receive cancer treatment.
“It’s been stressful,” the insider said us in April. “William feels an important duty to maintain the stability of the monarchy and to inspire the public that everything will be fine. It is a huge responsibility.”
In the same month, the royal author Robert Jobson toward Hello! that the couple’s “up-and-downs” over the years have “strengthened their bonds, which now cannot be broken.”
“It’s very difficult for both of them, at least as parents, as they try to balance the mental well-being of their children and the seriousness of the diagnosis,” Jobson added. “But there’s no question that William is Catherine’s rock. He’s always in her life and he’s in her heart.”
