Mike Tyson slapped Jake Paul in a heated final for the boxing match, prompting a YouTuber to say the heavyweight legend “hits like ab***h.”
Tyson, 58, will fight YouTuber Paul, 27, in Texas live on Netflix tonight in the former heavyweight champion’s first professional fight in 19 years.
And one night before their divisive fight, Tyson and Paul tipped the scales at the weigh-in, as fans in Dallas cheered the great boxer and booed the social media star. When Paul and Tyson came face to face, the latter slapped Paul, before security separated the pair.
“The discussion is over,” Tyson told host Ariel Helwani, before refusing to explain why he hit Paul or answer any other questions. Paul then said, “I don’t feel it. He was angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought it was a funny slap, mate, but you’re going to lose tomorrow. I’m bothering him.”
Paul also screamed: “He hit like an ab***, now it’s personal, he needs to die!” Follow the latest updates ahead of tonight’s fight below:
Against the odds
With all the talk about the ‘script’ and the controversy over the age gap, let’s take a look at the odds of the fight.
On the board, Paul is priced as 13/8. Tyson is as high as 2/1 to win, with the draw priced as high as 11/1 with some bookies.
Tyson finally fought in 2020, in an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. that ended in a split decision.

Is Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul ‘scripted’ or a real fight?
It seems like a good time to remind readers of this piece…
It says something that some US states have banned betting on the fight there between boxing Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s attention. You can’t place a bet in New York, for example, or a bet in Colorado, where the gaming commissioner considers the event an exhibition. This is despite the stamps being officially approved by the Texas Department of Licenses and Regulations, but then anything in Texas.
The fight was a professional boxing fight, but it’s easy to see why some in the sport were uncomfortable. Two results of a genuinely violent contest will be: a 27-year-old gym jock beats up a sick 58-year-old grandmother; or one of the most brutal boxers of all time beating out-of-depth YouTubers. Either way, the optics aren’t great.
That is why it is unlikely that one of them will happen. Both boxers will wear heavy 14oz gloves to reduce hand and cushion impact, instead of the standard 10oz gloves. The fight will take place in eight two-minute rounds, instead of the usual 12 three-minute rounds. It is officially approved but also designed to avoid genuine horror.

The awkward truth behind Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson
No hate, no love, big gloves and rounds will be short when Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight on Saturday night.
Tyson is 58 now, reformed, gray at the edges, his eyes have weakened with his stomach and every time he tries to spit out the fake poison. Well, it probably is, so what? He was once Iron Mike, the youngest heavyweight champion in history, so he deserves respect.
Paul, in his own unique way, has single-handedly destroyed the boxing career of many UFC stars and was exposed in the boxing ring as flat-footed swingers; now the former child player is on the hunt for faded kings. This is the unmade Rocky movie with a twist: can the old king beat the young? It’s an age-old boxing story.
But here’s what you don’t know about fighting…

Professional notes Tyson & Paul
This fight brings one of the most famous names in the history of boxing and relative newcomers to the sport, although the high profile of both fighters – as well as the nature of the fight – has thrust into the spotlight.
Jake Paul is best known as a YouTuber and performer, although he refers to himself as a boxer, but maybe the win over ‘Iron Mike’ is enough for skeptics to take him more seriously. Paul is now 10-1 in his career, with his only defeat coming to Tommy Fury in February 2023, and he has defeated famous fighters (though not boxers) such as Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz.
On the other hand, Tyson, who is now 58 years old, entered the fight 19 years after his last fight, with a record of 50 wins, six losses and two no contests. In his prime, he was a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.
His last professional fight was against Kevin McBride in 2005, when he also lost to Lennox Lewis and, most famously, Evander Holyfield and Buster Douglas.

Jake Paul reveals next fight after Mike Tyson: ‘It makes a lot of sense’
Jake Paul is confident he will fight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez after his fight with Mike Tyson on Friday.
Paul, who is now 10-1 with seven knockouts and his only loss was on points to Tommy Fury, believes that a cruiserweight fight against Alvarez for the world title version can be agreed for 2025.
“This moment will prove that I am a boxer,” Paul said. “The biggest attraction, and me fighting Canelo at 200lbs for the cruiserweight title is the biggest fight.”
