Maryland Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan has made a big show of not wanting to endorse Donald Trump, but he has been criticized for endorsing Trump at private fundraisers.
Hogan is running against Angela Alsobrooks in the Maryland Senate race.
In a call on Wednesday, Hogan was asked by a local Republican donor “about the public perception that Hogan and Trump
hate each other.’ The former Maryland governor clarified that he did indeed accept Trump’s endorsement, CNN reported in an exclusive based on a video call obtained by him.
“Donald Trump actually endorsed me,†Hogan said, interrupting the donor and repeating: “Donald Trump actually endorsed me.â€
Hogan “mentioned his endorsement of Donald Trump in a private donor call and offered to help him with the former president’s ‘hard core’ supporters, after repeatedly stating that he did not want Trump’s endorsement,” he said.
Of course, the Hogan campaign has its reasons for this. You see, the man who boasted of getting Trump’s approval, who threatened to use the military against Americans who did not support him and constantly called Harris supporters by name, “rejects the idea of hate in politics.”
“Governor Hogan responded to a question about whether he and Former President Trump “hate” each other. Governor Hogan rejects the idea of hate in politics, and will try to work with whoever is elected,” Hogan campaign spokesman Blake Kernen told CNN.
It’s strange that this Republican who brags about his personal endorsement of Trump wants to distance himself while taking refuge in the notion that he’s fighting hate. Donald Trump led a deadly uprising against his own country that injured more than 140 officers and killed one of his own supporters. The mob plotted to kill the Vice President and then Speaker Nancy Pelosi that day.
Donald Trump was also found responsible for sexual assault, which means he physically assaulted E. Jean Carroll in the dressing room. It’s hateful and that person has no business endorsing anyone, and there will be no decent person to endorse from that person.
But then, Hogan has been compared to Trump recently. MSNBC notes that the Republican “Don’t Trump” put a family member in charge of a real estate company during his governorship, and may use his power as governor to promote his business:
Former Maryland governor Larry Hogan is trying to win a US Senate seat in deep blue Maryland on the strength of his reputation as a Never-Trump Republican. But a damning new report in Time magazine suggests that Hogan, who had a family member in charge of a real estate company while he was governor, is more like Trump than we know. Hogan may be able to use his power as governor to help boost business in the same way as his former president.
So what is Hogan’s promise to certify the 2024 election if elected to the Senate? Is it as weak as “Never-Trump” status? Should voters just vote for him and hope he doesn’t lie about a single thing, when he seems to lie about Trump?
This file is further proof that the elites really don’t care about Trump’s threats to use the military against American citizens or praise for Hitler. Fascism is fine with them, as long as they can benefit from it.
