90 Days of Engagement‘s Michael set the record straight in the surprising separation of Angela after six years together. ET’s Melicia Johnson sat down with Michael to talk about what first attracted him at the age of 22, what happened after he got to America and whether he’s still open to doing more reality television.
90 Days of Engagement fans have been watching Michael and Angela’s rocky relationship play out for years, as the two have been a standout couple in the franchise. Angela is often accused from being rude to Michael and Michael admittedly lied to him at one point, but the two of them ended up getting married in their home country of Nigeria. After years of getting his visa denied, he was finally approved to come to America, where he lives with Angela and her family in Georgia. But as the current season of 90 Day Engagement: Happily Ever After? show, the two are still dealing with problems even after the distance is no longer a factor in the relationship. Angela at one point spat Michael and still do not believe in his wishes.
Michael told ET that he first slid into Angela’s DMs because he liked her profile picture and the fact that she was carrying one of her grandchildren in the photo.
“I mean Angela, she was my first American woman,” he said. “I’ve never dated anyone, and she’s just pretty, you know, I like fat. You know, my woman.”
He insisted that he did not scam her for a green card and in fact asked Angela if she only wanted to live in Nigeria with him as her husband. He maintained that chat group suspect him in called “Paradise Men” that for Nigerians looking to get a green card only people looking for support and information, and everyone in the chat were “genuine.”
“It’s like an attack on the side where we come from. It’s what people believe,” He said about the notion that scammed him. “Yes, but no. If I actually scammed him for a green card I would have done it a long time ago, you know?”
Michael said he stayed in the relationship despite Angela’s frequent and intense outbursts – which at times get physical — because he believed that it was only them living apart that caused tension.
“I think if I get here, everything will be better for us,” he said. “But I was wrong, you know? Things got worse when I got here.”
“It’s okay,” she added of his demeanor. “I mean, it’s fine. I mean, that’s the way I am. I’m a very chill person, maybe because I’m a very cool person, and I’m a laid-back person. They take advantage of that. You know, to do what I mean, if I was the one who did it, it would be a different scenario, you know?”
Michael said he felt like an “unwelcome guest” in Angela’s house. In February, something alarming happened when Angela reported Michael missing in Georgia, although he was found a few days later.
“I suffered for a few days,” Michael said.
As the final straw, Michael claimed that he was just “regarded” by Angela, especially when she was angry. He vehemently refuses to cheat on Angela in America and says that he will never stand a chance.
“It’s too much for me to leave, for me to have left,” he emphasized. “But, it’s gotten to the point (where) I can’t take it anymore.”
“You know, even since I went to America, we haven’t had sex,” she added. “We never had sex. I mean, he slept in the room. I slept on the sofa – like that. If something happened at home, I would be the first to be caught, I mean. , I can’t be free at home (He) is always watching me, checking my phone, etc.
Michael admits that he is afraid of Angela, but he puts up with Angela’s behavior because he really loves her. As for where he is now, Michael says he’s still open to filming his life even if he’s no longer with Angela.
“I mean, I’m going to be popular, I’m going to benefit, and if I get an offer from a network or another activity or another event, I’m going to get it,” he said. “I mean, I’ve been on TV for the last six years, and I think I’m used to it, I work on anything, you know? I don’t want to put my head in one basket. , so that’s all I’m going to say.”
