Liam Payne latest death: The One Direction star died of multiple trauma caused by a hotel fall, a preliminary autopsy has revealed

Singer and actor Noah Cyrus, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and sister of Miley Cyrus, grew up a One Direction fan.

The 24-year-old wrote an emotional post on Instagram Stories in reaction to the devastating news of Liam Payne’s death:

“I won’t be able to fully express my feelings, but . . .

“I feel very lucky to have been in the same generation as Liam Payne and the 1D phenomenon.

“Liam you are so loved and will always be loved by so many.

“This is the most devastating, terrible, and sad news. I send my deepest love to his family, girlfriend, and those close to him.

“As someone who eats sleep and breathes one way and being a part of that fandom is a big part of my life and everything else. We’re very lucky to be apart of that fandom.

“We are very lucky to know Liam Payne the singer and the actor. But my heart goes out to Liam Payne who is suffering behind closed doors. My heart also goes out to the fans because I am absolutely devastated and I imagine many are devastated by the loss of someone special.

“Thank you for the laughs, the smiles, and the songs. You will live forever through that. You will never be forgotten.

“Calm down Liam. I really want you to be at peace beyond this world. You deserve it.

Pop star and actor Halsey has paid tribute to Liam Payne in a social media post. The 30-year-old often describes himself as a huge fan of One Direction, and in 2021 he bought a Calabasas compound from Payne for more than $10m.

“I loved one direction with so much power when I was young. it hurts to mourn someone you loved so much when you were young, and became a friend when you were an adult.

“I know people change and grief is not sure or complicated when it is associated with a good memory or a feeling that someone gave you and not the person himself. I can see many of you here struggling with the present and I understand.

“A few years ago I bought a house that Liam used to own. there were rumors of a haunted house. He assured me it wasn’t, and I believed him. Because I knew the ghosts that were haunting us were not connected to the building. They lived in a part of us that was harder to reach and moved to anywhere.

“As a parent, fellow artist, and fan, I cannot fathom this sudden loss. My heart goes out to the family, friends, and fans.

Before meeting Cassidy in October 2022, and Henry in 2019, Liam was in a relationship with the former The X factor judge Cheryl Cole.

For the next six years, One Direction experienced a level of fame not seen since Beatlemania: screaming, hysterical fans; paparazzi; intrusive tabloid stories. After the band split in 2016 after their final farewell tour, each of the five members pursued solo careers with varying degrees of success.

Interestingly, Payne – who has long-held ambitions to become a singer with the likes of idols Justin Timberlake, Usher and Chris Brown – admitted in 2017 that he had doubts about going solo. “I’m just going to write songs and keep doing it,” he told Billboard. “But then I was like, ‘You’ve been trying to do this since you were 14. You’d be so stupid to turn down the option to make a deal.’ Out of the band, we have some pretty good opportunities around us. I have to do something.”

Payne died of traumatic injuries caused by a fall from a third-floor hotel balcony, police in Buenos Aires, Argentina have confirmed.

A preliminary autopsy revealed that the singer suffered “internal and external” bleeding and multiple traumatic injuries, according to reports seen in multiple outlets.

A toxicology report is pending.
