Kamala Harris sparked immediate backlash from voters over a litany of whoppers after promising 75,000 fans outside the White House that she would be honest.
The Democratic candidate gave a ‘closing argument’ speech in Washington DC on Tuesday night – exactly one week before Election Day – in which he raged about his past being challenged by the truth.
‘I will always tell the truth even when it’s hard to hear,’ the vice president told the crowd. Her pledge to honesty came as a surprise to many on social media, which saw a series of statements garnering a lot of scrutiny.
‘Why lie about McDonald’s? Why lie about the border czar? Don’t they know we can check on them? He lied!’ one person sent in X.
Donald Trump’s campaign also got involved, pointing out that the vice president barely mentions his role in the current administration while competing for the Oval Office gig.
“He cannot admit that he has been the leader of the country for the past 3.5 years,” the campaign wrote.
Kamala Harris drew criticism for assuring ‘I’ll always tell you the truth’ during a campaign speech on Tuesday night
Harris called on the country to reject the ‘plans of wannabe dictators’ and ‘start writing the next chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told’
Speaking at The Ellipse, Harris reminded the crowd that Trump stood ‘in this place’ on January 6 to ‘invite’ the crowd to storm the Capitol.
Harris wants Americans to envision two possible futures if either he or Trump takes the Oval Office in less than three months.
‘I will always tell the truth even when it’s hard to hear,’ the vice president told the crowd.
Her pledge to honesty came as a surprise to many on social media, which saw a series of statements garnering a lot of scrutiny.
Some voters pointed out that Harris claimed he was never declared a ‘border tsar’ by Joe Biden and Harris.
Others complained that they could not provide material evidence that they had ever worked at a fast food chain.
“They covered up Joe Biden’s mental decline for years and still deny that anything was wrong with him,” wrote another.
A poll in July showed a majority of Americans believed Harris was part of a cover-up to protect Biden’s aging and dementia from being revealed.
Karoline Leavitt, the Trump Campaign’s national press secretary, said the vice president lied about her record to avoid accountability for Biden’s record.
“Kamala Harris lies, calls names, and clings to the past to avoid admitting the truth – the migrant crime crisis, sky-high inflation, and raging world wars are the result of her terrible policies,” he said.
The vice president called Donald Trump ‘unstable’ and slammed his ‘obsession’ with ‘grievance’ and ‘revenge,’ seven days ahead of what could be one of the closest races in history.
He was talking about the Ellipse, a section of the National Mall that featured the White House as a backdrop just seven days before the election.
A very strong appeal with the race actually tied in the polls is to reach voters who are undecided and who are still on the fence about voting on November 5th.
“This is a man who is unstable, vindictive, resentful, and powerless,” the former president said.
His remarks, sent from the same place Donald Trump spoke from January 6, 2021, were carried by all cable networks.

Considering his background as a prosecutor, the campaign shows that he has provided evidence and facts and is not ready to make the final pitch.
The main argument of the pitch is that he is not Donald Trump.
‘I offer a different path. And I’m asking for your vote,” he said.
“I do not want to score political points. I am looking to make progress. I promise to listen to the experts, to those who will be affected by the decisions I make. And the two people who disagree with me – unlike Donald Trump – I do not believe that those who disagree with me are enemies. They want to be put in prison, I will give them a seat at the table,” he said.
‘I promise to be president for all Americans.’
And she refers to her childhood as the daughter of immigrants.
‘I have lived the promise of America. I saw how hard our mothers worked to give their daughters the same opportunities this country gave them. Growing up, I was blessed to have a family by blood and a family with love that instilled in me the values of community, compassion, and faith. They certainly define our country at its best.’
Harris attacked Donald Trump from the start, criticizing him for his response to the January 6 uprising.

The main argument from Harris’ tone is that he is not Donald Trump
“Donald Trump is sitting in the White House, watching as the violence unfolds on television,” he said.
‘He was told by his staff that the crowd wanted to kill the vice president himself and Donald Trump responded with two words: so what?’
“And that’s asking you to give me four more years in the Oval Office,” he added.
In striking contrast in the image of what Harris campaign is going for, he said they chose the location deliberately.

That night was the big, sweeping event that the campaign wanted.
There were about 75,000 people cheering Harris on – with only a few interruptions from Gaza protesters – and all the cable networks carried his remarks.
The only hiccup was what President Joe Biden said on Tuesday on a Zoom call with Voto Latino that started getting oxygen at the same time.
Biden – in response to a pro-Trump comedian who called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage’ – he said ‘the only garbage I see out there is his supporters.’
The president tried to play clean-up almost immediately as his dig went viral, which he likened to Hillary Clinton’s ‘basket of deplorables.’
“Earlier today, I called the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico unleashed by Trump supporters at the Madison Square Garden rally trash — that’s the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unacceptable. That’s all I want,” Biden sent to X Tuesday night.
Trump said it was ‘worse’ than what Clinton said eight years ago.
