Melania Trump & President Biden React To Trump Rally Shooting
According to CNN, Donald Trump was injured on Saturday, July 13, while speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was delivering a campaign speech when multiple shots rang out around 6:15 pm ET.
The incident injured Trump’s right ear, causing blood to streak across his face.
Most recently, Melania Trump shared a statement about the incident in a letter addressed to “the American people”. In the note, Melania urged the public to “reunite.”
Several politicians, including President Joe Biden, reacted on social media. Shortly after the news broke, Biden posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his relief that Trump was safe and sound. He further stressed that America must unite to condemn violence.
“I have been informed of the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I am grateful to hear that he is safe and well. I am praying for him and his family and for everyone at the rally, as we await more information. Jill and I am grateful to the Secret Service for taking people to safety. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to punish it,” Biden wrote.
AXIOS reports that President Biden spoke to Donald Trump after the shooting, saying that the rally in Pennsylvania should be peaceful without any problems.
“In essence, Trump’s rally is a rally that should have been peaceful without any problems. The idea that there is political violence or violence in America like this is unheard of. It’s not appropriate,” said Biden.
VP Kamala Harris Releases Statement After Trump Rally Shooting
Vice President Kamala Harris echoed President Biden’s sentiments about X regarding the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. He also thanked the swift action taken by the United States Secret Service, first responders, and authorities.
“I have been briefed on the shooting at former President Trump’s event in Pennsylvania. Doug and I are relieved that he was not seriously injured. We pray for him, his family, and everyone who was hurt and affected by this senseless shooting. We say thank you to the United States Secret Service, first responders, and local authorities for taking immediate action. This kind of violence has no place in our nation. We must all condemn this abhorrent act and do our part to make sure it doesn’t lead to more violence,” VP Harris wrote .
Barack Obama Shares Message After Trump Rally Shooting
Shortly after the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, Barack Obama commented on the news. The former president expressed his relief that Donald Trump was not seriously injured and hoped for a speedy recovery for himself and Michelle Obama.
“There is no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we do not yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump is not seriously ill, and use this time to recommit to decency and respect in our politics. Michelle and I wishing him a speedy recovery,” Obama wrote.

Here’s What Happened at Donald Trump’s Rally
Reuters reported that Donald Trump escaped an assassination attempt over the weekend, shortly before he was scheduled to accept the official Republican presidential nomination.
According to CNBC, Trump was quickly escorted off the stage by the Secret Service on Saturday (July 13) after shots were fired that ended up damaging his ear. The outlet revealed that the FBI identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Pennsylvania, who was later killed by law enforcement.
NBC News reported that authorities said one of the participants was fatally wounded, while the other was in critical condition.
CBNC reported footage showing Trump instinctively touching his right ear, then falling to the ground. Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him and escorted him to a vehicle, with blood visible on the right side of his head.
