“There’s some background to this, and I want to explain this because I’m getting heat on social media for being a non-committal person,” Chock, 61, said. Us Weekly during the interview the first couple of participants when asked about how to know he is ready to pop the question.

“We both have children in elementary school and high school and he really wants to get the children out of school before we get married. It’s a decision I support,” he explained. “And the reason why I said that is that I want to get married. … I want to show (Joan) how committed I am to her and how much I love her.”

And Guy approached me and said, ‘Hey, can I have some time?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely.’ … I didn’t go and pull Joan away, I didn’t do anything. … It was the first time a man could see, directly, the relationship between Joan and I. And I understand why some people are frustrated with her.
Chock added that he wasn’t strategic and that he made the comment about taking Joan home early. “I have to admit, I said, ‘Hey, can I take you home? Let’s just end this. We’re in love. Let’s start our lives,'” he recalled. “But that’s not the whole journey.”
