Does Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann’s PDA hint at breaking cult rules (more)?
Fans think so. And, in the assumption that Jana violated Jim Bob’s restrictions before marriage, they are glad for him.
To recap, within hours of Jana Duggar’s leaked wedding date, she married Stephen WIssmann.
None of this fits the pattern of “normal” Duggar parties. And there are hints that Jana and Stephen never abided by the “dating” rules.
Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann are married!
On Thursday, August 15, Jana Duggar married Stephen Wissmann. They had a rather small ceremony even though Jana is famous on TV and there were 500 guests.
Jessa Duggar, one of Jana’s countless sisters, is her maid of honor. Joy-Anna, jinger, Johannah, and Jordyn Duggar were the other bridesmaids, as well as sister Abbie Duggar. (Jill was not part of the wedding party)
Marriage is all but mandatory with the Duggar family and the fundamentalist cult they belong to. But there is so much about what happened fair for the Duggar world.
Jana is 34 years old, rather than a teenager or early 20s. She and Stephen have a real engagement (he proposed in June) instead of dating. And Jana and Stephen even (allegedly) date several years ago and broke up before meeting again in early 2024.
Now, the cult is raising Jana Duggar and her siblings to survive. He lives as he is – a grown-up Millennial – rather than as his father’s property.
The wedding – and, especially, the wedding reception – left many Jana fans wondering if she and Stephen were making another. fair choice ahead of their nuptials.
What does Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann’s PDA mean?
Many have seen the viral video where the fundamentalist bride does not know how to kiss at the altar, because she does not know how to kiss.
Not so for Jana and Stephen. Even though Jana’s sister had a chaperone during their brief courtship to make sure they didn’t “front-hug”, Jana and Stephen didn’t get along.
During the wedding, Stephen picked up his new wife. Touching Jana’s butt area did not seem awkward to fans and commenters, who thought that this was not new territory for her.
These are more than just dating rules, however. Many snarky posts on social media, including Twitter, noted that Jana wore a gorgeous wedding dress. A wedding dress that covers the shoulders.
Michelle Duggar has explained that, in the twisted theology of her cult, women show any amount of attractiveness “defrauding” onlookers because they believe it is the woman’s fault if men find her attractive. And, of course, they believe that only married people can fulfill their wishes.
According to the orthodoxy, Jana “deceived” many of the party guests. But the bigger question is, frankly, how many rules did Jana and Stephen break before they got married?
On social media, people joked about “frontal hugs,” “shoulders (of sex workers),” and more — even as they heaped praise on Jana.
However, we must emphasize that this is all just speculation. Well, the cut of the dress is not. And so is Jana’s age, which makes her a geriatric princess by Duggar standards.
Perhaps, one day, Jana will open up about her (in the cult) status of “old maid” and what caused the party. But now, Jana determines the time of marriage until God and leaves it.
Newlyweds move in
In addition to metaphorically distancing themselves from the rules of the family, Jana and Stephen are physically moving away from the Duggar compound, as well.
Together, they will live in a new house in a new country. A brand new 5 bedroom home (which is priced at just $275,000) is located in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He will be close to the Wissmann family, which Jana knows. And it will stay away from Jim Bob and Michelle and Josh Duggar’s crime scene. That sounds like the best.
