AirPods 4 announced
Apple just announced the AirPods 4.
Apple says it used 3D modeling and laser topography to develop the “most comfortable AirPods ever.” It’s powered by the H2 chip.
The company says the headphones are an improvement in audio quality, and “AirPods at their best.” They also have persionalized spatial audio.
The AirPods 4 charging case is compatible with USB-C, and this is the smallest case.

Apple Watch Series 10 will include new health features for sleep apnea
Apple says the Apple Watch Series 10 will be able to alert users to sleep apnea, a disorder that can cause people to stop breathing while they sleep. The condition affects more than 1 billion people worldwide, Apple said.
The company says that 80% of people with sleep apnea are undiagnosed. The Apple 10 series uses an accelerometer to measure breathing disturbances while the user sleeps, and analyzes this data every 30 days.
The feature was built using an extensive dataset, Apple said, and the company expects clearance from the FDA and other regulators “very soon.”

Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 10 with the thinnest design, largest display
Apple Watch Series 10
Apple Inc.
Apple just announced the Apple Watch Series 10 with its thinnest design ever – 10% thinner than the Series 9 – and its biggest display yet.
“Today we’re building on the cutting-edge technology pioneered with Apple Watch to make it even more useful, meaningful and intelligent,” Tim Cook said of the Apple Watch Series 10.
Apple COO Jeff Williams introduced the model, which he said will have “the largest wearable display we have ever built” – even larger than the Apple Watch Ultra – and has up to 30% more screen area. It will also have an additional line of visible text for messages, mail or news.
Both the display and the case have a wider aspect ratio and rounded corners, Williams said.
The Series 10 display will also be up to 40% brighter when viewed at an angle to improve visibility, he said. The display will update once per second when in Always On mode instead of once per minute as before.
Apple also introduced the first glossy aluminum finish for the Apple Watch in jet black. It is polished using silicon nanoparticles to produce a special surface shine. Other options for the device include rose gold and silver aluminum. The aluminum finish weighs up to 10% less than the previous generation, Williams said.
The new titanium finish option weighs up to 20% less than the previous model and is “carbon neutral,” says Williams. It replaces the stainless steel finish in the previous generation.
The device also still incorporates water resistance up to 50 meters.
In 30 minutes, users can charge the watch to 80% battery, making the Series 10 Apple Watch the fastest to date, Williams said. It also has an 18-hour battery.
To improve the phone, Apple integrated a neural network into the Series 10 that reduces background noise to make conversations clearer, he added.
When it comes to fitness, the Apple Watch introduces a new way to track your workouts. For kayakers, canoeists and rowers, the Apple Watch sports app can track your paddling routes and activities, introducing the Tides App and new water depth and temperature sensors.
Prices start at $399, and customers can pre-order today. Series 10 will be available on September 20.

Apple Store down before iPhone event. This is certainly the case when Apple is set to announce new gadgets. Will be back shortly after the presentation is over with information about the new product. The iPhone 16 and Apple Watch look like locks. New AirPods may appear.

Tim Cook tweeted before the event
As usual, Apple CEO Tim Cook posted a tweet on the X social media platform before the event. “Apple Park is glowing! #AppleEvent,” said the post with a picture of a rainbow structure on the company’s campus. The tagline for the event is “It’s Glowtime,” which appears to refer to changes in Siri with Apple Intelligence, which will now glow on the edge of the iPhone’s screen instead of showing the standard Siri bubble at the bottom of the screen.

Apple needs to show its AI gadgets are not busts
Apple Intelligence was announced during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California, on June 10, 2024.

Apple needs to convince people to upgrade to the latest iPhone and prove to Wall Street that the iPhone upgrade cycle is on track. One way it will try is with Apple Intelligence, which the company announced in June. It’s artificial intelligence that customers can use to generate emojis, email messages, notes and more. It will tap into OpenAI’s ChatGPT as well. Some of these features won’t be released until the end of the year, and AI gadgets are already a bust.
Apple’s iPhone sales fell 1% year over year to $39.29 billion during the company’s fiscal third quarter, or about 46% of the company’s total sales. “On a constant currency basis, we’re growing every year. So that’s how we look at it from an operational standpoint,” Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC’s Steve Kovach in June, noting that Apple has “redeployed a lot of people to AI that does other things,” and Apple is increasing its spending on AI and Apple Intelligence.

Apple analyst Kuo says these are two important things to watch now
The iPhone 15 Pro is shown during the “Wonderlust” event at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, on September 12, 2023.
Loren Elliot | Reuters
Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the two most important things to watch on Monday are iPhone prices and the availability of Apple Intelligence. The iPhone Pro has the same starting price of $999 in the US since 2017, but the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max has a price increase of $100 over the iPhone 14 Pro Max – at least double the storage. Apple Intelligence is currently in beta preview and some of the best improvements, such as a smarter Siri, are expected later this year or next.

There is a ‘Free Speech Area’
“Free Speech Area” outside Apple’s heaqaurters.
If Leswing | CNBC
I noticed this “Free Speech Area” sign on the road. Apple’s past events have drawn criticism since the company’s China policy for how to handle child sexual abuse material, or CSAM. In June, for example, CSAM protesters showed up at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference. Additionally, protesters staged a hunger strike outside the Apple Park Visitor Center in December 2022 to speak out against changes restricting Apple AirDrop in China.

We just arrived at Apple’s Cupertino campus and walked into the Steve Jobs Theater. That’s where Apple usually announces new iPhones on campus, as opposed to events such as the Worldwide Developers Conference held outside. Today is cloudy.
Update: It’s not cloudy now. That’s California weather for you.
