Huawei said on Monday that it will hold a product launch event later this month just hours later Apple‘s annual iPhone unveiling as the Chinese tech giant looks to upstage its US rivals.
The event will take place on September 10 at 14:30 Beijing time, Huawei said in a post on the Chinese X-like service Weibo on Monday.
That time will be the evening of September 9 on the west coast of the US, where Apple’s event will take place.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 lineup on the morning of September 9 at an event featuring the tagline “It’s Glowtime”.
It is unclear what Huawei will launch at the event. Richard Yu, who heads Huawei’s consumer and automotive technology group, said the company’s “superior, innovative and disruptive products are here,” according to a Google translation of a Weibo post on Monday.
“This is an era-making product that others have thought about but couldn’t make,” Yu said.
The executive added that after five years of investment, Huawei has “turned science fiction into reality.”
