Bad timing
I know it’s stupid to even ask, and I know what your answer will be instinctively, but… do you think there is any chance Astro Bot could come out on Xbox at any point? I really like to give.
I have to say that I really regret switching to this generation of Xbox, now that they have started making games on cross platforms. Have always liked PlayStation before but Game Pass swayed me this generation.
Like many other writers on Inbox, it’s a mistake I won’t make again.
Chris
GC: Well… it’s more likely than Super Mario appearing on Xbox.
The forgotten generation
I see a lot of people reacting to the idea of PlayStation 6 coming out in 2026 and I can’t blame them. Soon, it will be the six years we usually have, but we only have two ‘normal’ years of this generation, when Sony is working at full capacity. Obviously, the pandemic is not their fault, but the first two years are still better than the last two years.
If PlayStation 5 sales are down, there’s one obvious reason: the lack of exclusive games. How someone with Sony experience doesn’t know this is beyond me. Do they think people will be lining up to buy this Christmas for Concord? Or even Astro Bot? Which has got zero ads and I doubt most ordinary people have even heard of it.
I think the decision has already been made and I took a point from this weekend’s Reader’s Feature, where they said it would be a worthwhile reboot for Sony. It would be easy to avoid the situation, but that’s okay, considering the problems that the PlayStation 6 is currently facing in 2026 and forgetting that the PlayStation 5 has happened. As absurd as it sounds, I believe that is now Sony’s gameplan.

Press reset
I have no words. Well, me. What nonsense. Another console?! Dear me. There is a time when the device has a life, the developers understand the system, and at the end (about six years at a time) they push the thing to the maximum and people are happy to continue. Now?! Well, there’s no way the current console can push it to its limits. Development costs just say no. So a more advanced PlayStation?! insane.
It is in the limit unless there is a change. Gaming needs a rethink, a reset I believe. Indie got it. Smaller but more advanced games are the way to go. Also, with development costs coming down, prices are coming down. In the old days I had and played 20 to 30 system games. Today? four to five is what people ask for?! And that’s 300-ish notes today. insane. A reset is required.

one world
Really enjoyed the Atomfall preview and interview.
It’s great to see a British post-apocalyptic game being made, especially when Fallout London isn’t going to be official, like the Black Mesa mod did, and it’s profiting from the paid revenue.
Does GC get any idea of the size of Atomfall’s world, and if it’s a large map, or a related area?
Also, can’t believe it will be in Game Pass, the subscription is definitely a good value for this gamer.
Tundrastrider
GC: You only have one physical map, similar to how maps work in Metro Exodus. We can’t say that this is the whole game but everything we see is part of the open world.
Fill the void
The strange thing about the current Switch 2 rumors is that the logical choice is to make the announcement in January and February. But just because Nintendo doesn’t want anyone to get their hopes up does that mean they’re going to do something that looks bad? From a business standpoint, I want to know what it is as soon as possible.
I am debunking some vague rumours, by people who know better. In the same podcast about the September rumors, the guy said that the Switch 2 is dual screen, which could mean something like the DS or…
These are two different things. This is a variety of options, why even bring it up? When there is an information void, then everything will be sucked in to replace it.
Boney
In red
Microsoft’s increased profits actually trickle down to Activision Blizzard. I think they would have been in the red without the acquisition. But now they’ve got more IPs to make money from, apart from Call Of Duty. Doom: The Dark Ages looks like a hit. Indiana Jones, and more. Yes, Xbox and PlayStation are going in different directions now. Sony would love to take 30%, while Microsoft gets the profit from PlayStation. Think about it for a second. It’s a bit lazy. If you can’t beat them, join them!
Like I said, I think PlayStation will learn more to PC and maybe port Switch 2. You said that Sony should sell the console. Indeed, they don’t have the number of studios or bankable IPs that Microsoft currently has. Leaked Insomniac documents show how much Disney took from Marvel-licensed games, such as Spider-Man.
Sony should bring back old IPs like SOCOM. They have many options. Dropping Fractions 2 is a bonehead move, according to Concord. Who knows what Microsoft is doing? Other than killing the Xbox brand. But in terms of profit, it will be crazy when the next Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc.
Will Sony be the green eyed monster, that’s my question? Totoki appears to be an executive who will pay attention. A desire for another original IP indication where the head is.
I would add, Activision Blizzard is an asset. This is not a case of Microsoft needing to generate $69 billion quickly, otherwise they wouldn’t have bought it in the first place. The idea is that Activision Blizzard is a better investment than leaving money in the bank to earn interest.
It has forced Phil Spencer to justify the purchase, however. Which obviously means increasing profits. No need to pay back the investment, like some loans. If the investment does not hold its value. Then they had a problem. But if Microsoft wants to sell Activision Blizzard tomorrow, to say Amazon or Apple, it will be for more money than they paid for.
Mr
GC: The acquisition cost $75.4 billion. That’s more than Panama’s gross national product. Doom and Indiana Jones won’t even scratch the surface.
Day one, the year 2025
Just a quick email stating that Capcom and Microsoft have resolved the MT Framework issue with Capcom’s upcoming fighting collection game.
They will now arrive on the Xbox platform in the first half of 2025. Can’t wait to play Rival School and Power Stone on the big screen along with other games included. Both would be a one day purchase for me.

Solo career
The excellent preview of The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, along with Astro Bot was well received by critics. It shows that gameplay is always king, no matter the age group whose graphic style seems to attract attention. I personally love Astro’s Playroom introduction of the PlayStation 5 and found it fun and very well designed, with great game design physics with the use of a controller.
The same can be said for all games where the characters and storyline take second place to the real fun gameplay. Link’s Awakening Remake is great and the cutesy style graphics are great to look at and are rich and vibrant, which is similar to Echoes Of Wisdom. The videos I saw of Zelda games and GameCentral’s description of my time in the game made me want a Nintendo in my life.
It’s a magic formula that might not come up with a lot of new game ideas, but certainly some new ones and, most importantly, refine and refine the kind of familiar game ideas that will still appeal to the general public.
Nintendo Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, and actually a lot of Super Smash Bros panels whose characters just never seem to retire! These are different developers who create magic, while developing game ideas to keep them relevant to today’s players.
So, the fact that Zelda finally has a starring role, and Link retreats as he did with the new game Rosy Rupeeland Rosy Rupeeland Tingle obtained on the Nintendo DS, shows that, like Mario, the Legend of Zelda also has a panel. from the character going solo. Echoes Of Wisdom seems very open to solving puzzles and taking on enemies, just like the main core game, but with a unique quality not usually seen in the main Zelda games.
So here’s to the gameplay taking the lead and hopefully people will try the game and not be distracted by the more family friendly graphics.

Inbox well-rans
So this is the state of modern gaming, right? You now need a launcher to launch a launcher, to launch a game? I haven’t played a Call Of Duty title on PC in years, so you can imagine my surprise at all the steps I had to go through to get the Black Ops 6 beta to finish downloading via Battle. Net!
PsillyPseudonym
Well, I have bought Astro Bot after the review and have to agree with you, it’s a fantastic game. But the bosses are very easy. I wish they would do a New Game+ where the bosses are harder, but I like it. Great game and fun.
David
GC: Yes, the bosses are a bit easy. It’s really just a difficult optional level.
