The Friday letter page is worried GTA 6 interferes with the launch of Switch 2, as one reader expects Two Point Museum.

Semi-multiformat
It’s interesting to see Sony’s attitude towards Lego Horizon Adventures on Nintendo Switch, that they don’t want to publish it and ask others to do it. It seems small (and a complete waste of time and money) but it’s what you’d expect from Sony.
However, unlike Xbox games that appear on the PlayStation 5, I don’t see much of an argument for putting PlayStation 5 games on the Xbox Series X/S. Not only does Sony not want to do anything to legitimize Xbox, the console is bad enough that they don’t lose much by just ignoring it.
However, the Switch 2 has the potential to be a very different situation. Assuming it’s not a Wii U-style disaster, but other consoles are very successful, then I see no reason not to bring all PlayStation games. The Switch 2 won’t have as good graphics as the PlayStation 5, so Sony can still say they’re the best place to play games, but they’ll make a lot of money on Nintendo’s consoles.
I don’t know if Sony is too proud to go that route – maybe Lego Horizon Adventures is just Lego’s idea – but I get it.

Course correction
The new trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a hundred times better than it reveals. I don’t know how anyone could think this was a good idea. I mean, kudos to EA for reversing course and realizing their mistake, but how does something like that happen? Who would have thought Dragon Age fans would want their game to look like Overwatch?
I realize they are probably trying to attract new players, but I can’t see them being won over by the trailer when the actual game looks nothing. Many times we see this mistake from publishers, where fans will see it from a mile away, but how the game makers just stumble upon it. The only difference is that this time most of them realized their mistake quickly.

Market growth
Glad to hear there are a lot of horror games coming out this October, but I’m struggling to understand what the point of a remake of Until Dawn is. The word has been misused lately, maybe it means remaster but anyway… does anyone like Until Dawn, they can’t play it on PlayStation 4 and like it?
I remember the game being one of the best on the PlayStation 4, so I’m sure it’s still around. It seems like another unnecessary remake trying to copy the success of Resident Evil. But really, Until Dawn is not on the same planet in terms of popularity.
Sony will spend all their time on money for projects like that, when they could be making a smaller indie game, or two. It’s funny how companies constantly complain about their lack of growth, but they’re obsessed with pointless nostalgia – something that only works for existing fans.

Opposites attract attention
The thing I like about Switch 2 is that it’s released at the same time as GTA 6.
The game will be a black hole in terms of all related games and if the rumors that GTA 5 will appear on the next Nintendo console are true, it will be sad.
I, like many others, have played GTA Online to death on my PlayStation 3 and have no intention of going back because of the invisibility/invincibility/exploder. Lie full server, unless Nintendo can do something to stop them.

GC: GTA 6 may be an awkward moment, but we doubt anyone’s opinion on the Switch 2 will be formed whether GTA 5 is there or not.
Charm strikes
While none of the hype-filled E3 presentations I’ve read have been informative, and not as boring as they’ve made it out to be, the excellent looking PlayStation Blog site The Plucky Squire will be launching day one on PS Plus Extra and Premium on September 17th.
With Squire on the 17th, Astro Bot on the 6th, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom on the 26th and the recently released Thank Goodness You’re Here! I find my game pantless and charm into oblivion.
Another unannounced indie game for the last generation of Sony and Microsoft consoles even though it’s out on the Switch, so that’s no big deal.

Follow the rules
I see there is disagreement about what Xbox games are coming to PlayStation 5 next, but everyone thinks that something ‘big’ is coming. Forza Horizon reviews better than any other Xbox game, including Halo, so it certainly makes sense, especially since there’s nothing like it on the PlayStation 5.
I really think Microsoft should explain their thinking with multiformat games though. I don’t care about them, I just want to know the rules. Is it X number of years or months before a game comes to PlayStation 5? Is it just completely random? Are some franchises totally out of bounds?
It looks like Microsoft doesn’t know the answer right now, but they have to decide and stick with it. Once they can explain their thoughts, and it doesn’t look like they’re just making it up or just reacting to what other people are doing, I think they’ll do better.
Even if they decide not to do multiformat anymore, it will be a clear and permanent decision. I think this scattershot approach does them more harm than they realize, because it not only annoys existing Xbox owners, but makes potential new ones distrustful of any plans.
Dunk
Still kicking
There is one week left to return the spiritual successor to Chibi-Robo!, called KoRobo, the Kickstarter. They are $5,000 away from their goal. They also used Campfire to run a separate crowdfunding campaign at the same time, for the game for backers from Japan.

PS: Cocoon is currently on sale in the Xbox Store for £12.59. I was going to buy it physically on the PlayStation 5 (also coming out on physical Switch) next month but as it was on sale in the Xbox Store I got it from there as I had a £10 gift voucher so it was only £2.59.
I was going to buy Planet Of Lana on PlayStation 5 a while ago because it was released there, then a month before it was on PlayStation 5 it was sold on Xbox and then I bought it on Xbox.
GC: Cocoon is great, but we were not so impressed by Planet Of Lana.
In space no one can hear you sneaking around
I’m definitely looking forward to Alien: Romulus and I’m curious to see how it compares to Alien Isolation. very game and I think that when GameCentral interviewed Sigourney Weaver it was one of the most memorable questions I read.
It was the first Alien movie that was terrifying and made industrial spaceships terrifying to navigate, along with Event Horizon, it probably took the horrors of deep space and made it real and visceral.
The sequels up to Alien 3 are also top notch and decently made, especially Alien. Although I saw the first one, and it was as creepy as a good horror movie, there were so many well-designed weapons that the xenomorph hordes just lost. But I really enjoyed the special effects and visuals in Aliens and Alien 3.
But when I saw the original Alien movie a few years after Aliens, it was a slow-paced creeping of monsters tracking and hunting people down which was a good way to portray such a dangerous predator.
So that’s how I like stealth games, instead of shooting them all with space marine assault rifles. Alien isolation may have its faults here, but you can’t deny that it does the job and the characters you play are good enough to take care of emotionally.
One last good thing, which the new Alien: Romulus movie should fulfill, is the classic thinking that everything is okay and right with the world but, as in Alien and Aliens, the sneaky xenomorph is still around. Well, you know what happens when you see the movie, but it’s always interesting to see if the new movie lives up to the best of this amazing franchise.

Count me as hyped for the Two Point Museum. From what I’ve read so far, everything looks good and the opening trailer shows that the series’ signature humor will be present and true along with the excellent gameplay. I really enjoyed Two Point Campus and the Museum has the potential to be better.
Pigfish2 (PSN ID/NN ID)
I really like Sega Vs. Capcom games. Just as Nintendo did Sega characters better than Sega, I’m sure Capcom did too. It would be better if it were pixel graphics, although I know that won’t happen.
