Wednesday’s letter page suggests making a Survival horror game Tomb Raider, as one of the readers is looking forward to the summer indie line.

Almost recommended
I just wanted to give a verdict on Concord, after having played on the weekend and Saturday. I will say that I totally agree with GC’s review, even if it’s not necessarily about which character is my favorite. I hate all aliens, so I’m glad it’s nothing else, and Haymar actually likes it a lot.
It’s clear that the game is not original, or even trying to be, but I think it’s worth focusing on, given the state of most other games and sequels. I feel more disappointed when new franchises just copy something, but this is still more imaginative, within those limits, than Valorant or XDefiant.
For me, the question is how good is good enough? The game is fun and well made but at the same time it is not a world beater. If it was free, it wouldn’t be a problem, but it’s not, so you have to decide whether you should play it and get your money and time investment. Even as someone who enjoys the weekend I’m not sure.
The beta may have been too generous, because now that I’ve played all the characters I’m not sure what I’m looking forward to from the main game. the story? Not so much. I think Sony still got a big job ahead of them, trying to sell it.
Freddy
Friends from Rockstar
I see there are some rumors about GTA+ coming to Switch but what are these people thinking? With this variety, it’s always a boring answer, so maybe it’s because Red Dead Redemption is on Switch, but what if Rockstar is ready for Switch 2?
I can’t see a scenario where GTA 6 works on a new console but what if Rockstar makes something new for Nintendo, like they did Chinatown Wars? Or maybe they have a version of GTA 5 working? It’s still basically an Xbox 360 game, so it’s not as if it should be a problem.
Rockstar has gotten along better with Nintendo than I think some people thought, so I’d like to see them try and reteam.

Full horror
I see Lara Croft now in Dead By Daylight, which seems strange to me, since none of the games are horror. There were some chapters in the first reboot, and I guess there was a tense element in even the early game, but it seemed strange to me that he was constantly associated with scary things but in no game he really moved.
I know the original version of the reboot was more obviously a horror game, which was diluted with what we got, but if people are so interested in the idea, then is it time for a full fat survival horror? It would certainly make more sense to turn Tomb Raider into that of the ultra violent stealth/shooter game that was the last trilogy.

Surprise hit
There may not be any big name games coming out right now, but it’s a good time for indies right now, judging by GC’s reviews of Gestalt: Steam & Cinder and SCHiM – both look interesting to me. I’m also optimistic for Dungeons Of Hinterberg, Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure, and Thrasher. I think the GC will check this as well.
I hope there are many others who haven’t figured it out yet, because I find one of the joys of indie games is that they suddenly come out of nowhere and are amazing and weird. I certainly never imagined that Balatro would be my favorite game of the year, but I’ve been wanting to for months. Hopefully 2024 will have more independent surprises.

GC: We should check, yes.
Internet detective
To add to the rumor mill, and I know you’ll love this absurd addition to the theory about ‘Who is Emio?’
Referring back to the trailer, it’s pretty clear that the reason the paper bag-wearing enigma hides one hand behind his back is to hide the game’s unique selling point.
Nintendo’s Vitality Sensor, which will be an important part of solving the case in the unsolved murder mystery.
You can lie, but you can’t hide.
Bad edit
GC: To be serious for a moment, the latest rumor suggests that it might be part of the Famicom Detective Club series and not necessarily related to Team Bloober.
An unstable studio
I’ve seen some rumors, which are probably made-up, that Rocksteady is planning to reuse some of the stuff from Suicide Squad to make a new game where this time you’re playing as the Justice League trying to make up for them. . It’s good that the first step is not to just close the studio, but I can’t see it working.
I don’t like anything about Suicide Squad: not the gameplay, not the visuals, and not the story or the way they do the characters. I don’t know if Rocksteady has now lost interest in the DC universe or if too many of the original crew have left now but this is almost unrecognizable from the Batman game they used to make.
In my opinion, the wise decision is for them to make a new and original game, but the problem with the budget and everything now is that even if Warner wants them, they also take a big risk. Now Rocksteady is stuck making lame comic book games, which they never see again, until they finally shut down. It’s really embarrassing.
Onion Knight
This time it was a war
Aliens: Dark Descent on PlayStation 5 is on sale now.
I re-read the review from last year, which said many bugs, but the PlayStation 5 version could be better.
Did you get a higher score today? I’m assuming many bugs have been ironed out now, but I doubt they have added more dialogue and music to the game.
Rave
GC: We haven’t played it since launch, but we know from others that the bugs have been fixed. Even if they don’t it’s worth it on sale, especially if you’re a fan of Alien.
serious choice
I’m not sure how serious people are when they say they hope there will be a new Marvel Vs. Capcom but with the new compilation and Marvel movies ramping up again I don’t think there has been a better chance in the year, assuming we hand wave away any legal complications from Sony, until we know more.
So what are people’s serious hopes and expectations for the new character? Multiple Fantastic Four characters are given, with the movie appearing, but I don’t know how many new X-Men we’ll have, beyond the ones we’ve inherited, because it’ll be a few years before Marvel steps in. (I thought there was a desire at Comic-Con for a slate movie?).
I might also get Doctor Strange, Miles Morales, Loki, maybe Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Moon Knight, and Scarlet Witch. But who knows, since Capcom likes to pick some obscure characters. I don’t know where Shuma-Gorath came from – he’s an interdimensional god not a green octopus!
For Capcom’s side, I think Lady Dimitrescu is a shoe in, as well as one or two new characters from Street Fighter 6, which might include Luke. There should be a Monster Hunter avatar (can’t believe there isn’t one in Infinite) and then I’d like to see Gene from God Hand and Falco from Power Stone (I guess we’d better have Squirrel Girl from Marvel too. , for GC, although I don’t know who they).
I’d also like to see some obscure Capcom picks, like old-school Bionic Commando and Regina from Dino Crisis. Then it becomes obscure like someone from Knights Of The Round or Forbidden Worlds. I have always loved this game and the other characters are not clearly better.
Sagat
GC: Monster hunters were added as DLC after launch.
Inbox well-rans
The Sims is one of those franchises that I wish other companies had. I used to love the game, but EA took so much control, I’m not surprised to learn that The Sims 5 is having problems.
Cora
John Bercow in Fallout London? Suddenly, I really wanted to own a gaming PC. Like other readers, what will Bethesda do if this is better than the official game? Not like Fallout 4 was good to begin with.
