Federal agents have boarded a boat operated by the same company as the cargo ship that caused the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse, the FBI has confirmed.
In a statement Saturday, a spokesperson for the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office in Maryland confirmed that authorities have entered the Maersk Saltoro. The vessel is managed by Synergy Marine Group.
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Coast Guard Investigative Service are currently on the Maersk Saltoro conducting legitimate law enforcement activities,” said a statement from the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office.
Authorities did not provide further specifics.
In Wednesday’s lawsuit, the US Department of Justice stated that the owner of Dali Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and the manager of Synergy Marine Group, both from Singapore, recklessly cut corners and ignored known electrical problems on the ship which suffered a power outage moments before the crash. support column on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March.

Darrell Wilson, a spokesman for Grace Ocean, confirmed that the FBI and Coast Guard boarded the Maersk Saltoro in Baltimore Harbor on Saturday morning.
Wilson previously said the owner and manager “look forward to their day in court to set the record straight” on the Justice Department lawsuit.
